It was just a group of friends having a good time and everyone was friendly but laid back.
I hear you. That type of "association" was always called bad in the JW world. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Nice to hear you had a good time.

this weekend i went to a pool party at the house of a girl i know from work.
there were probably close to 30 people there and i only knew about 4 of them, plus they were all about 3-6 years younger than me and mostly in high school but i had an absolute blast.
it really was all that i wish high school could have been but wasn't because i was a jw.

just curious.....what is your feelings post witness about the super natural?
When I left the JW world I was terrified of being harassed by demons. Never happened.
I have talked to and read about individuals having encounters with ghosts and I generally take what they say at face value. I believe what they saw or experienced was true for them.
I, however, will believe in ghosts when I actually see one. That has yet to occur.

i'm looking for tips.
i usually shop at a commissary on a military post, the other day i went to a civillian store and found eggs for $3/dozen, milk $5/gallon and bread $3/loaf!
well even on post it's still expensive.
Actually we are trying to make our own bread-just to see how it goes.
I have been making my own bread for about a year now. I figure I save about $1.00 per loaf. For us, it is more about the satifaction of making our own food and not adding preservatives and other yucky stuff. I have the easiest recipe ever for "no knead bread". The recipe can be found here:
We don't have a big lot, but we have managed to squeeze quite a bit on to it with four fruit trees (apricots are booming right now), and a vegetable and herb box. It is awesome to go into your back yard to get green onions, cilantro or basil. In another month or two we will have plenty of tomatoes and whatever we don't use we make sauce freeze for the winter.

the 1980's was certainly a strange time for rock groups, and musical development.
lots of techno, beginnings of alternative , and some rock n' roll groups trying to push along.
what were your favorites ?
I recently got a new car and subscribed to XM Radio. My top three stations are the 70s, 80s and 90s. Some of the stuff you hear on those stations brings you way back!
One of my all time 80s favorites: Rick Springfield! OMG was he hot on General Hosptal (the show I had to sneak to watch cause it was a *gasp* soap opera). Rick still tours and I saw him not to long ago at a county fair. He has fun music and puts on an entertaining show.

goodfellas is my favorite.
(i love gangster movies).
That would bring a nice price on Craigs list
Never thought about that. Thanks for the idea. It is just sitting in the garage because I no longer have anything to play it on.

I am in with the others who said the Princess Bride. Never get tired of watching that. When it came out in 87, I was one of the first people in line to see it (even though I had no idea what it was about). They handed out the "45 vinyl" of the Mark Knofler (spelling?) song to the first 50 people in line. LOL I still have it!!

for those raised or who got the truth at a young age, how have you been able to handle the reality that you are in fact, eventually, going to die in this system?.
for me, this was a real hard reality check.
as a witness, my entire life i was convinced that i would see armageddon, that i wouldnt grow old and die.
I had a real hard time with this one. From birth I was taught that I was never going to die. Never.
Once I finally left and got a reality check - that hit me like a load of bricks. I had a hard time coming to terms with the fact that I will one day die. My husband is a realist and he just accepts death as a fact of life. He hopes we live a good, long life and then he said he wouldn't mind dying. It still is a weird concept to me, but I have slowly seen where he is coming from. Then there is another part of me that thinks there will be something after death.
The further and further I get from "the truth", I do not overly fear death. I can't stop it; I have no control over it; however, I don't dwell on it either. It is just an eventuality.

i have been faded for a long time now and of course my immediate family are in "intervention mode".
the latest c.o.
visit in my moms cong stressed the fact that "the end is sooooooooooooooooo close now" - we must do everything for jehovah and his organization before its too late.
You weren't going to graduate either? I wasn't even supposed to start school.
I keep getting all the "scare tactic" news articles emailed to me from my mother becaue the "end is so close."
I am glad we don't believe that line anymore.

well, it was 7 years today that i attended my last meeting.
there is none and never will be any inkling for me to return.
how long has it been for you?
I think my last meeting was sometime in October, 2001. So it is just about 7 years for me too.
No inkling for me to return either. My life has gotten MUCH better since I left.
