I have had success with WW. I never actually joined -- my friend told me how it worked, gave me a points counter and another getting started book and I lost 25 lbs last year. Yes, I did exercise too (and I still do). I liked WW because I could have whatever I wanted as long as I did not go over my points for the day. Trader Joes is a great place to find "cheap" (meaning low point) food. At some restaurants, their menus even list the WW points. Here is a great site to use to find out how many points are at different restaurants and such. http://www.dwlz.com/
I really like WW and I always go back to it when I need to maintain.
after about 18 months "out" (2000) i got myself a minister's license from the universal life church and registered with the local county (clackamas) so i can perform weddings.
originally it was because one of the gals at work was getting married and the fellow she had lined up to officiate backed out.
i thought (at the time) it would be deliciously naughty to "belong" to another "religion" and use my jw training to give a talk - it's kind of like a demo at a service mtg.

lately i have been reading alot about those who cease the dub life, and though they are not officially dfed or daed, are treated as though they are by dub family and friends.
when i was a dub , i remember viewing those who did not come to meeting's anymore nor field service......as simply "weak" or inactive.
never do i remember shunning or snubbing those who seemed to fade away.
When I beginning the fade I would go to about one meeting a month. Sometimes I was mobbed by my "friends" and other times I just snuck out the door as fast as I could. My closests "friends" would come by my house and ask how I was doing. I would tell them I am depressed, etc. Then I just stopped going altogether. I know rumors circulated about me because I had JWs living near me that could see the comings and goings at my place of residence which included my new boyfriend. They judged me (and talked about me) without even confronting me (aren't you supposed to do that to help save your brother?). There are some out there that shun me and others that don't -- I guess it just depends on their level of "spirituality" (sarcasm intended).
Welcome IForget. I guess I am still considered an elder's daughter because my dad is still and elder and whether he likes it or not I am still his daughter. I think we (as elder's children) got an extra special load of guilt. Like Brenda mentioned. . . .
"..everything I say and do reflects on my father and his position in the congregation".
for those of you that are disfellowshipped, disassociated, a fader, or formerly non-baptized publishers.. if you had your funeral in a church, would your jw friends or relatives come to it?
i was telling him the other day that i want to have my funeral service in my church, and that my jw relatives would *not* come to it.
i've been lurking around these parts for a while and thought it was time to make a post, although one or two of you have come across me when i wandered into chat a few weeks back.
just a quick intro: .
i'm early 30's, was involved with the dubs since birth, but made the break when i was 18 to go to university (culture shock!).
I stopped watching primetime tv a long time ago -- I prefer the Discovery Channel or National Geographic Channel, etc. But the one show I love is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Comedy Central. He is hysterical!!!!! Stephen Colbert and Rob Corddry have us ROTFLMAO.
