Question about what do they do with the emblems after the Memorial?
My dad (the PO) brought the bread home one year and we ate it. I thought it was cool because we got to "try" the unleavened bread. He said it had no more significance once the memorial was over. Don't know what he did with the wine -- but he probably drank it when we went to bed.

first, a little background.
i lurk here from time to time, generally if i am feeling down or having trouble with something re: jws.
i have not been to a meeting for over a year now, and neither has my wife.
but she said to remember that we are family, and no matter what decision I made (she didn't specify, but it was obvious what she was talking about), that we would still be family and they would not cut off contact.
Welcome Mael! Just that fact that your family will still be there for you is wonderful. So many of us leave JWs and our families leave us because of it (speaking from experience here). I hope the fact that your family will still be there will make it just a bit easier for you to leave the religion.

i am going to conduct a little pseudoscientific experiment here.
my hope is to prove without a doubt that disfellowshipping causes more problems for the jw's than it solves.

we did.. we used to call them "memorial saints".
they were the fringe members, the fallen away, the disfellowshipped, those who had their own private pipeline to jehovah, bible studies, good-will, disinterested husbands, delinquent kids, prophets, lunatics and uncle tom cobley and all.. in short, all the weirdo's that could be mustered together on just one night of the year.
but it got the numbers up.
Sadly, yes I did. I was always the one who would approach the "new faces" so they would feel welcomed. I never knew how to handle it when someone would say "I am df'd". I would mumble "oh, sorry" and walk away. How lame that was! The memorial was when you would see all those old faces who showed up once a year.
Glad I won't be there tonight.

i have no guilt for not attending for 2 years in a row.
Last year was the first year I did not attend. I thought I would feel guilty after the date passed, but I felt really good that I did not go.
This year the guilt has completely disappeared and I am looking forward to my yoga class at the gym tonight.

i'm the kind of person who literally wouldn't kill a fly.
any insect that happens to wander through my place gets caught in a glass and thrown outside.
now, last summer, a bunch of ladybugs decided to move in with me.
I was asking because we have a problem in our garden with "cucumber beetles". At first we thought they were the good guys because they resembled lady bugs. Boy, were we wrong. They are evil, evil creatures. The only way to get rid of them is with chemicals (which we refuse to use on our garden). BF takes the shop vac and tries to vacuum them up (even in mid-flight). It is a kick to see him out there. Anyway. . . I have asked everyone I know about these creatures and they all say the chemicals are the only way to get rid of them.
I am not sure what state you are in, but I would recommend not leaving the cat around if you decide to bomb the place.

usually elders come over a few days before to invite me, but they didn't come yet....
Yes, by an old friend who wrote me a letter and extended an invitation (no strings attached). I wrote back and thanked her and told her that I knew where the KH's up where I live. I left it at that. At least I know she is thinking of me. My own parents have not offered the same invitation. Maybe they finally realize I won't go.
