i am going to the bahamas on holland american, leaving from ny and since i've never gone before, i don't know what to expect.. what was your experience like?

We took a Royal Caribbean cruise down to Mexico and I loved it!!!! I can't wait to go again. What did I like about it? The rest and relaxation. The food was wonderful and the entertainment was great too. I was told to make sure I tip our room steward really well. Don't know if it helped though -- I think he would have been great no matter what.

Cook at home or eat out?

do you know how to cook, even just a few simple recipes, or do you hate the idea of home cooking and prefer to always rely on restaurants and take aways, or just prepare easy snacks like sandwiches and melted cheese on toast?

I love to cook and bake. For a wedding present I received a brand new food processor (I had a hand me down one before). Boy does that think work good -- I used it today for the first time! I made veggie burgers (from a Martha Stewart receipe). It was okay. I used red beets instead of golden beets and I felt like I was eating raw hamburger meat! LMAO Every once in a while I have a receipe go bad.

I work full time and I still make dinner every night. My husband will help if he makes it home in time. I really enjoy cooking.

the local needs talk on thursday discussed a few different things, according to my mom.

but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.

they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

Gerrit Loesch GB Speaker at KC convention

he had areal go at those in the arena who went out to dinner the night before in casual clothes. He commanded from the platform (I shit you not) or at least put to shame, anybody the night before who went out to dinner in the KC area without wearing a suit and tie and without their district convention name tags

Nothing like a bit of shame and guilt to add to the burden of being a witness.

yesterday i went to a temp service i had worked at way back in 94 and signed up with them again.

they have a job for me starting monday.

Are You Sick of Religion?

I want nothing to do with religion at this point. Being a dub (and associated with dubs) for more than 30 years, has totally turned me off toward god, the bible and religion in general. Maybe one day that will change, but I just don't know.

I got married a few weeks ago and my husband wrote the ceremony. Not one mention of the bible, god, etc. I liked it that way.

Field service horror/humor stories.

this has probably been done before, but has anyone had any scary or funny things happen to them during field service?

i used to go door-to-door with the most obnoxious elder in the world.

if we approached a house, saw signs of life, but they didn't answer the door, he'd actually go around and knock on their windows!

We were working this neighborhood where one of my friends live. He said "you have to do that door cause there is a really cute guy there". And btw, this was when I was a teenager -- many moons ago. Anyway we go to the door and the girl with me (I never could stand her) was afraid to do the door, so I thought I would "act mature" and talk to the "really cute guy".

So I knocked on the door and believe me, it wasn't a "really cute guy". It was a man with whose face was burned (either by acid or by a fire) and he scared the sh*t out of me. Especially when I was expecting a "really cute guy". *roll eyes here*. I immediately whipped out the magazines and offered them (knowing how the WT actually turns people off), and he, probably seeing my discomfort, kindly rejected them.

I never forgave the idiot who told me to do that door. I am a compassionate person, but I was totally caught off guard with that door.

i've been gone from the "truth" for 9 years this month.

i have very little contact with my witness family.

every year around this time i get a letter from my grandparents.

Good for you. No need to listen/read any more of the guilt and shame. When I get emails from the woman formerly known as my mother, I have my husband read them so he can let me know if there is anything worth reading.
