the elders called Brooklyn and got permission to cancel meetings
No thinking for yourselves allowed! Must call Brooklyn.

it's -5 with a minus 30-35 wind chill factor here so you would think the "loving elders" would cancel the sunday borefest.....nope.
just got a call...."well of course it was your choice, but there were 70 in attendance this morning!!!".
there have been meetings cancelled because of heavy snow, but give me a break going out could be dangerous.

yes as a young man on 20 out witnessing with the special pioneers one brother said his bible study wasn't home...."oh that sucks" said i......well, you would have thought i said "that sucks balls" three pioneers completely freak out and as a "trinity" start telling me off...i didn't think it was a swear word....anyone else?.
once the c.o used the term "peeved off" during his talk...well, everyone did research on the word to see if it was the same as "pissed off.
".
My dad used to chastise me when I would say "that is screwed up". WTF? If only he could hear me now. . . . . . as I use swear words as adjectives.

have posted this on the other thread but just making this one as well:
i need to let you know that dad passed away this morning at 8am.
he fought so hard but in the end they could not get his blood pressure to rise and he died of heart failure.
This is very sad news. I am truly sorry for your family's loss.

even though i no longer proclaim being a jw it seems to have tarnished my relationship with others, including family and even co-workers.
.
i feel as tho i am still treated differently than others..
Not at all. I either get the sympathy look or asked "how did you survive it and manage to get out" question. I definitely have better relationships with my "worldly" friends. People who would do anything for you because they care. . . not because they "have" to.

lets say you get disfellowshipped.. then move 1000 or more miles away.. how would the elders find out if you're df'd if you do the following:.
go to a local kingdom hall, ask for a bible study..... when asked for name change the first name slightly, then get re-baptized 4-6 months later.. do elders run your name through a list?
you would be a witness in mgood standing, just don't tell about your previous location details!.
In my opinion, it would be better to get reinstated and then walk away on your own terms. At least then your family and (so called) friends could speak/associate with you.

that's the latest being circulated from our dear witness friends and relatives.
Forgive me if I get this wrong - but isn't one day to god a 1000 years?
Wonder how long a second (in human time) is to god?

does anyone here have the dreaded timeshare?
how do i got out of this!!!!!!!!!???????????
?
We just bought one and rescinded the purchase the next day after reading horror stories. I have been reading up a bit and about the only thing you can do is suck it up and "enjoy your vacations". . . or at least that it was I read on a few occassions. It is almost impossible to off load these things. *sorry*
i found out a couple weeks ago i'll be losing my job by the end of the year.
despite having a bs, and almost a masters in a professional field, an outstanding education record, and having project management experience, i've had zero luck in getting a new job.
unfortunately, i don't live in a large metro area, and so opportunities for my line of work (governmental) are limited here.
I work for the governement too and we have had about 25 layoffs since September. One employee committed suicide one week before his scheduled layoff. We all know he was having problems at home, but think the layoff was the last straw. More layoffs will be announced in February. Things are a bit stressful (to put it mildly).
