I will start over....I am not associated with any religion, nor am I a bible thumper. I do tend to believe the bible is accurate but always I am open minded enough to consider evidence showing any errors that can be proven. In order for the bible measurements of the bowl in 1 Kings 7:23 to equal pi we are short by aprox 18 inches. If I spread my hand and measure the breadth from thumb to small finger it is 8 1/2 inches. Using this measurement on both sides of the container gives us an extra 17 inches bringing the bible figures much closer to the true value of pi. Of course I cannot prove this was how a handbreadth was measured, I also cannot prove the true measure of a cubit which was measured from the elbow to finger tip and regarded as about 18 inches today. I also cannot prove that the bible measurement of 10 cubits was for the inside of the container and the two handbreadths were to be added to arrive at the outside measurement. Those who argue against my position also are unable to prove their system of measurement so I remain un-conviced that it is a proven bible error. I thank those who sent the history of the pi debate....I did not realize it went back that far in history. If pi is indeed an irrational number with no end , how then can we expect the bible to give us the finite measurement. Thanks Guys...I remain "Open Minded"

Biblical Inerrancy
by Francois inis there any denial that at 1 kings 7:23, the value of pi is ascertained as 3.000?.
and where does this leave the idea that the bible is inspired in every word, jot, and tittle by god?
just wondering.. any takers?.

If you are brave enough to search back, you will find many many JW prophesies for the world to
end, none have yet to happen including 1975. The best thing to do is find an accurate Bible
and read the prophesies. The world does not in fact end. The Temple has first to be rebuilt
in Jerusalem, The Anti-Christ sets himself up in the temple and demands worship, Armegeddon
happens, Christ returns, 1000 years of peace, Everything rebuilt, eternal life. -

The reason the book I have is so rare is because the WTS had its members cut out the offending
pages and burn them so that the evidence could not be used against them. I have the original
un-cut version. Some day when I feel up to it I will type up the contents of the missing pages
so that Rutherford can be shown as great a liar as Russel was. -

Dear Farkel
You claim many of the so-called publications were never books. I have collected as many of the
old and out of print books and writings as possible. Many from the late 1800's and early 1900's.
Very expensive and hard to find rare copies. I even have an original edition book from 1921
titled "The Harp Of God" "Millions now living will never die" by J>F> Rutherford. This edition
was quickly revised because the untruths were exposed shortly afterwards. I have the original
version . This book as well as most of the early writings show the teachings and prophesies have
gone through so many changes they should not be considered reliable. With this in mind it is best
to stick with the bible for truth -

It is ironic that mankind with our super computers etc. cannot calculate the finite value of pi but we demand the bible provide the number.

Hey Carmel
Your idea of pi sounds more appealing.
Here is a test of whether what I say has any truth to it. You can try this in your own kitchen.
The next time you make an apple pi, use pears instead of apples. Have some friends over and you
will have the best reputation in the world for baking apple pies. Try it and you will agree -

At one time I thought the Bible was full of fairy tales about floods etc. Especially the story where the
Jews were told by God to march 7 times around the walls of Jericho , blow their trumpets and seize
the city. God broke down the walls and the enemy was so frightened they scattered. Sounded like
a myth to me. It has been established as an archeological fact that the ancient walled cities
in the middle East always crumbled and fell inward as time took its toll. Except for the ruins
of the city of Jericho.....the walls were "forced" outward and downward and displaced soil outward
as though with a mighty force. Just as though God pushed the walls down like the bible says.
We can go to the Middle East today to see this evidence for ourselves -

I first saw the debate on the value of pi in Kings defended by Keith Hovind. He uses science to prove the accuracy of the bible and defends creation vs evolution. I found a lot of his evidence very convincing. Some examples
are: It is a scientific fact that the revolution of the earth slows down by a pre-determined amount
every year. If the earth is millions of years old the earth would have been rotating so fast it would
be impossible for life to exist. Also do you recall pictures of the lunar lander on the moon. It had long
landing gear to allow for the 6-9 feet of dust on the lunar surface accumulated over 4.6 million years.
As it turned out there was 6" of dust eqivalent to 6000 years.. The first words from the astronauts
was "Where is all the dust" -

Ok then , could I not use the same argument that you are unable to determine the value of 3.0 in your claim

I read an article on the bowl dimensions equaling pi. The measurements are for the inside of the container
and the sides of the container are a handsbreath in width . The researcher then surveyed the size
of an average handsbreath and using the calculation the diameter equals pi. This could be used as
evidence of bible accuracy because the formula for pi is only a recent finding by man whereas
the bible has had it for thousands of years
