I Think that if the UN realized just how much the WTS's view of non-believers are worthy of death, and saw pictures of the literature's depiction of buildings and churches destroyed and on fire, and people being killed with Jehovah's Witnesses looking on and smiling, it would have significant impression on the UN. Now during this time when the Taliban and religous fanatical terrorists are in the news, I think any religion with that kind of thinking, even if it is not actively acted out, would interest the UN. The teaching of intolerance to the members towards non believers, and shunning those who have left is especially a destructive way to teach the children within this religion. I think if the UN were privy to the graphic pictures of death and destruction and beasts with teeth they might view it as dangerous teaching to children, and lessons of hate. Just my opinion.

Idea to attract PUBLICITY to UN story
by Trilobite inwe seem to be at something of an impasse with the press.
currently, the guardian seems to have an exclusive.
i'd suggest we use that fact to get further publicity for the un-wts connection.

NEWS: I am publicly reproved over UN situation.
by badwillie inmy wife and i met with 3 elders for a "judicial hearing".. our crime: simply put, was talking.
i showed a friend the un website where the wts was listed as an ngo which then led to a 2 hour discussion of various doubts that we both have had.
my wife also showed a friend the un thing but also discussed with her a first hand account of a pedophile cover-up that we knew about in our former congregation.

Willie, this is SO disgusting. Only recently on the news the Watchtower Society is DEMANDING freedom of speech as a Cosntitutional Right in a legal battle with a little town in Ohio. I have mentioned this before on other threads that the Watchtower does noes not live up to what it demands. THEY are the ones who deserve to be disfellowshipped and investigated for associating with the very entity, the UN, for whom they openly say is deserving of DEATH. Just how dare any elder treat another human in such an unchristian, unconstitutional way.
Again, Willie this is just too disgusting.[:(![

The GB is viewed as disfellowshipped!
by Kent inconcerning those who renounced their christian faith in his day, the apostle john wrote: they went out from among us, they were not of our sort; for if they had been of our sort, they would have remained with us.
(1 john 2:19) also, a person might renounce his place in the christian congregation by his actions, such as by becoming part of a secular organization the objective of which is contrary to the bible and, hence, is under judgment by jehovah god.

Good going MadApostate! There is a lot of information and issues to absorb and I do understand Seeker, and BoozeRunner's concerns. Freedom of speech and expression is a basic right to all of us. But I have a question. I don't mean to sound ignorant here, but If Watchtower lawyer sharpies are arguing the issue of First Ammendmant freedom of speech, should that law not just apply to them? Those whom they have disfellowshipped for expressing their religious opinions and banning them from associating with the church members for fear members could be made to listen, just goes against everything they claim the First Amendment is about.
MacHisslop, do you know of any cases that the Supreme Court has awarded in favor of WTBTS regarding freedom of expression not applying to thier own members within their congregations? This has always irked me that they demand their rights and yet give none to their members. Even in the case involving victims of abuse within the church, I've read comments by Mario Marino making sarcastic remarks about victims wanting their rights. If I am not mistaken aren't there aritcles in the Awake! and Watchtower on this subject of "rights"?

Hi Ranchette, No you are not trying to straighten out Jehovah's Organization because we all know he can do that himself. We are like those who found the "truth" for the first time and wanted everyone to "see" what we did. The bottom line they don't want to accept that their organization would ever lie to them in the name of thier god. They have life in a nice little package now and with Armegeddon looming over their heads the view all their menial little problems will be solved with the death of the rest. They are the ones who are shallow and closed mind for if they had the truth they would be able to look with an open mind. But the WTBTS looks for closed minded and hearted individuals who want their problems solved for them, so that they don't have to put any effort into their lives into thier humanity to change what hurts them. They are like children left alone in an empty apartment with no food or heat waiting for an adult to open the door and take them out. They don't realize they can open the door themselves and call on others to help solve the immediate problem

It is interesting how the JW's insist on identification cards when attending assemblies and special meetings for security purposes. It isn't always in the best interest of the public when people can come to the door with a specific agenda without special identification. Often women feel extremely vulnerable with a stranger at the door claiming to be reperesenting a product or service. I think in today's world no one should expect to be anonymous when they enter into private territorial boundaries on another's property. The issue of crime, and safety are definite concerns, and now especially, as I agree with Ranchette, that Pedophiles being allowed to come to the door "anonomously" to speak the Bible with unsuspecting families is something that most definitly needs to be considered. No only in cities but especially in secluded rural areas, when a young girl answers the door, or an elderly woman or vulnerable people of all ages and sex, they should have the security of knowing WHO is at the door and what is the true agenda? Religous encouragement or Recruitment into a pyramidlike publishing corporation under the guise of legitimate religion. The "ministers" of Jehovah's Witnesses are not "paid clergy", but part time volunteers made up of all different types of people, many of whom have had extremely questionable backgrounds before "coming into the truth". Today's presiding overseer could be mearly a sheet metal worker who had a long history of drug selling and pushing, or a psychotic on medications who becomes delusional if he misses a does of meds. I have known such situations. Yes I also have the same concerns that Seeker raises about giving gov't the power in a court ruling but also there are other considerations to think about when it comes to JW's coming freely and anonymously demanding they have the right to be there on you property to recruit you and than when they kick you out the back door years or mths down the line for not measuring up, then where is the right of the ones who are shunned?? Bin Laden also demands his rights but who cares what he considers to be his rights. He has hijacked the islamic faith and forces the world to go along with his thinking or else. The same with Jehovah's Witnesses. They have taken basic Christian teachings and hijacked it and twisted it into their own fashion that goes beyond what is in the scriptures and those who don't want to accept their way of thinking they also believe should be dead. Maybe not in the same way Bin Laden wants it but the same thinking is what they have. No normal person will want someone like that lurking on their door step behind a fake smile as a "volunteer". I say give the the ID cards.[8>]

The following website is a discussion with 2 witness representatives asking the government of Australia to view thier freedom of religion status so it can speak in behalf of the Jehovah's Witnesses in France and Russia who, they feel, are being singled out and persecuted by these countries. The names of the 2 witnesses are Mr. Toole and Mr. MacLean. The discussion begins around page 72 of 101. They must have enjoyed the privlege of attending this joint committee meeting with thier former UN NGO statues.

Free speech rights should not include intruding on another's property, thier home, a place of safety to push religious views. I always felt very uncomfortable doing this. It really is a boundary issue. Witnesses overstep boundaries in all kinds of ways. That is just part of thier MO.

Watching the coverage of Antrax and the fears that are counting on the way it is being transmitted through the mail system, it seems pretty logical that the freedom to pass literature door to door is going to be viewed as a possible threat by government. The JW's should be humble enough to cooperate and go along with the security measures rather than demanding their rights to force thier religious views on people. Thier intrusivness of coming on to people's property over and over again is going to wear thin on a lot of people who already view them as religious fanatics and basically pests.
