  You say we are demonized and that we are apostates, but you will find that there are people here from all walks of life, and there are even Elders and other current JW's who post here. We are not as scary and evil as you are taught to believe. In fact, there are many who still believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The only thing different is that many here owe their allegiance to God and Jesus instead of a man made publishing company.

  If you are not ready at this time, I encourage you to stay in the "Truth" until you are ready to find answers to your questions. Remember though that you are welcome back here at anytime, and we will be here for you when you decide that the time is right to get answers!

  But, if you are joking, GOOD ONE!

  i hate doing this type of thread.

  none of us are perfect, least of all myself, and i would rather focus any criticism on the watch tower society for damaging people's lives.

  however, in the short period since i've been a member of this forum i've noticed one member in particular deteriorate in his behaviour into the type of individual who threatens to undermine the credibility of the entire website.

  Oh, I see. It was Okay that the video made fun of someone's appearance, it was the vomit that upset you. Thank you for clarifying.

  Thank you for your answers to the questions I posed about picketing. I understand your thinking about it a bit more clearly. Still, my whole point of posting is that I strongly feel that there are nicer ways to address someone, especially someone that you say has a mental illness. If I knew for a fact (and not a personal diagnosis from a random person who is not qualified to diagnose) that someone had a mental illness, it would give me all the more reason to speak to that person with compassion and empathy, knowing that their illness was not their fault, and I would realize that kindness is often a good motivator to help someone along who's thinking may be challenged.

  I must say Iamallcool that I appreciate that overall we have debated on a mature level without all of the meanness (except maybe for a wee bit of occasional sarcasm-lol) that are common on the Rick threads. Even though we are still on opposing ends, the civility challenges me to think, and it makes me more open to understanding your thoughts, as I likewise hope that you may understand more clearly where I am coming from. If Rick were afforded the same attitude, I wonder if he would be more open to possibly considering other people's ideas on making his website more approachable especially if his mind is clouded from past JW traumas as many of us are. Just a thought...

  Iamallcool, what Cedars wrote has nothing to do with the specific questions I asked you. If you would be willing to be honest, please address the questions I asked. Here are the questions again, they should actually be quite easy to answer as they are basically yes or no:

  In regards to picketing only, would you condemn Mouthy and make the same types of comments with the same veracity that you do with Rick? Is it Okay for some people to picket, but not others? Also, in regards to picketing, would you feel the same way and make the same comments about picketing if Barb Anderson or Randy Watters picketed, or is it just a problem when Rick is doing it?

  By the way, I find it just a little bit hypocritical when you lambasted Sizmik for the video he just posted when you yourself wrote the following about Rick:

  "They will continue to laugh about your fat apostate belly privately if you continue to protest anywhere in the world."

  Do you agree it's a little hypocritical?

  Thank you for your input Cedars, but Iamallcool specifically mentions Rick's attitude and picketing. In past threads he has also singled out Rick and has said

  "They will continue to laugh about your fat apostate belly privately if you continue to protest anywhere in the world. "

  and

  "he might get the hint to do something about his behavior here on JWN as well as when he pickets at the Memorial."

  lamalcool, I have a question or 2 for you. On previous threads as well as this one, you have condemned and made unpleasant comments to Rick when he mentions going picketing. Here is the question; There is a poster here called Mouthy. She has been picketing for years, and has picketed everything from Conventions to the WTBTS Headquarters itself many times over, and has used signs, brochures and the whole shebang. Using the search function here, you will find that whenever Mouthy has actually picketed, at least 90% of posters who comment about her picketing praise her for doing it and tell her to keep up the good work. In regards to picketing only, would you condemn Mouthy and make the same types of comments with the same veracity that you do with Rick? Is it Okay for some people to picket, but not others? Also, in regards to picketing, would you feel the same way and make the same comments about picketing if Barb Anderson or Randy Watters picketed, or is it just a problem when Rick is doing it?

  Remember, I am only discussing picketing in these questions. No comparisons of one person to another at all, only the aspect of picketing.

  Thanks, I am curious to hear your honest answer.

  For the record, I am not the type of person who would picket, but I feel if someone else decides to do it, and it helps them in their own personal recovery, more power to them, and even if I may not agree, I laud their efforts for trying. It is not my place to tell a person that they should or should not do something like picketing, and it surely is not my place to judge anyone who decides to do it.

  i think it was started by a jw at the time.

  i worked for the trim-line in indiana when i was younger.

  When I lived in Winnipeg, Trimline was a big thing with the JW's. My roomate as well as several other "Brothers" used to work there.

  Trimline is a company that does decorative trim and accessories for automobiles and other motor vehicles.

  Does your heart still race when suddenly coming accross a JW?

  it did for me even though i eventually walked out on my terms and fully convinced of the apostasy of the watchtower pharisees and sanhedrin (governing body).. initially it was very confusing and bewildering since i was a 3rd generation born-in and the watchtower was the only "reality" i'd known for more than 40 years.. a psychologist diagnosed ptsd (post traumatic stress disorder) and recommended attending a cult conference and workshop for victims of psychological manipulation.

  i learnt about "triggers" that cause turmoil and upset whilst one is suffering from ptsd.. for nearly 2 years i could not answer a phone without a minor panic attack.

  i could only respond to voicemails.

  I'm Sorry they did that to you BP. Nowadays people get shunned just by being inactive. The brainwashing runs deeper than ever with them, especially since the end will be "very soon" and "any day now"

  Occasionally we have them come to our door, and my brain races more than my heart does. As soon as I see them on the street, I brainstorm to figure out the right thing to say to get them to think. The past couple of times I have brought up the child abuse issue. In a serious attitude, I tell them how I used to be really interested, and how much I used to love the magazines, but because of the rampant abuse amongst them, my conscience does not allow me to have anything to do with them anymore. They end up not knowing what to say, and they end up saying "I'm sorry" then they leave with their tails between their legs.

  We don't need them anyways. Since leaving, I have found true friends who care and love unconditionally. JW's have a lot to learn...
