Glander, you and I are kindred spirits when it comes to nature. I (and my Partner) love Animals and other creatures so incredibly much. Besides our regular water and food troughs for the wild Animals, we leave little cups of water near the lttle holes where the lizards and insects live. We can't even bring ourselves to kill a Slug or Snail, but rather we feed them and make sure they have water whenever we see one. Sometimes we even watch and study them through a magnifying glass while they feed and interact with one another. Of course we do this at night, small creatures and magnifying glasses don't mix very well when the Sun is out-lol.
Much of the Wildlife in the neighborhood comes to our home on a nightly basis. If one happens to be in distress, they automatically come here for help. Somehow they know that we would never hurt them. I also find it fascinating that each Animal has it's own unique personality. One Squirrel will be timid and shy, yet another will come right up to us to play. One Squirrel has a near daily ritual. He sneaks up behind me while I'm sitting on the lawn chair, and jumps up and grabs the cushion to get my attention, and he gets a kick out of startling me before I give him peanuts and pecans. The same goes for Raccoons, Possums, etc. Because of our constant interaction, we can often tell who's who just by the way they act. Earth's furry and smaller creatures fill us with a lot of joy, and the World would be a lot less fun of we weren't able to interact with nature's miracles. The thought of someone intentionally hurting any one of them makes me sick.

Oh my God. This is horrible. Please, please contact law enforcement to see what needs to be done so that your "Friend" will stop or be forced to stop this abusive behavior towards Animals. Please call either the SPCA, Humane Society, the Police or any other agency that may help. They will guide you on how to proceed further, and you can do it anonymously if you so choose. Please, this must be done immediately!!! If you don't know who to call, PM me, and I will find out who you need to talk to.
If your friend is willing and delighted to hurt Animals, what makes you think that they haven't thought or acted upon hurting another human being? Be careful of your own safety when you are around this person. A friend can easily become a victim.
I literally beg that you let the authorities know about this NOW, before another innocent creature is made to suffer.
PLEASE.

Anyone else celebrating the Memorial with just their families at home tonight?
by ohiocowboy intonight, i have decided to bake unleavened bread so that my partner and i can have our own memorial at home.
i already have the wine, and i will be serving it in an authentic ancient greel drinking vessel called a kantharos that was used in ancient times.
i've collected ancient greek and roman coins and antiquities for quite a few years, and i thought it would be neat to try be be as authentic as possible by serving the emblems in ancient wares.

Talesin, thank you for the PM, will call first thing! Hope you are well!
Hello Satanus, we had a really nice evening making a new tradition. We are always trying to think of different ways to surprise each other, and it made him feel good that we both shared such an occasion. He was never a JW, but he knows my background very well, and knows how difficult it has been for me after leaving the Watchtower. He understands my reluctance and fear in anything having to do with religion, faith, etc. and is letting me proceed at my own pace with my beliefs without being judgemental while I search for answers. Cheers to you!

My Wife's Father Passed Away
by TOTH inwell, the day finally arrived.
everyone says we were expecting it...but, not really.
my wife's dad passed away.. he suffered for many years and we were at odds about medications and intrusiveness, but he was just a man in great pain, desperate for relief.

Toth, You've been through a lot over the past couple of months. The stress of losing your leg, and now losing your Father in Law must be very hard for you and your Wife. I send you sincere thoughts in the hopes that you and your Wife heal both physically and emotionally from your extreme losses. The way the JW's turn a funeral or memorial into a sales pitch is sickening, and you are a special person for deciding to give your FIL a proper send off, including is favorite music. You and your wife sound like you are very loving and devoted to each other!

Good evening, Mrs. Shirley! Yes, tonight was a spiritual night for me, but especially so for my Partner as he is much more spiritual than I am at this point in time. Had I not been with him, it would have probably been much more simple for me. I thought that he would enjoy having a neat little tradition since he loves Jesus so much and it was something that we have never done together.
Up til a couple years ago, I was really angry at God (And Jesus), but the more I thought about it, I realized that my anger was more directed at the Watchtower itself, so I have been trying to have a relationship with God and Jesus once again, even though I still have some doubts and questions at times. It's a long journey, and I still don't believe in "Religion" per se because of the damage the Watchtower and other religious Churches have caused, but my own spirituality within me consists of at least recognizing a higher being or beings, expressing thanks for the positive things I have been given in life (Including life itself!) and I try to follow my heart. Wherever that will lead me I don't know yet, but I figure that I can't really go wrong as long as long as I try to show love towards others and try to be helpful in any way I can. I can't see myself ever being "Religious" again, but I can see myself becoming more spiritual which entails showing the fruits of the spirit; Love, joy, peace. mildness, kindness, understanding, etc. Thank you for asking!
Hi Scotsman, I'm glad that you and your Wife shared your spirituality with each other. The older I get, the more I realize that everything boils down to one thing, sharing with those we love.
Thank you for the recipe, Newly enlightened! Mine was fairly close, but I added a touch of honey along with the unleavened wheat flour, olive oil and water. Instead of baking it, I kneaded it, rolled it very thin, pierced it with a fork and cooked it on a clean, flat, preheated hearth brick over a small fire until it started to turn brown. I tried it that way to get the feeling of what it was actually like to cook something in the same way they did it way back when. Besides that, anything to do with using fire is fun-lol
Josh, Triscuits are a good alternative! I haven't had them in years though, but now I can't get my mind off of them. I will be forced to buy a box tomorrow-lol
Hello, Mrs. Jones! Pita Chips are delicious, and I'm sure they would be fine for a Memorial experience! Personally, I believe that anything can be used as long as it is used in love and respect. Regarding Pita, My favorite use is to have it stuffed to the gills with Gyros and loads of Tzatziki sauce. I'm getting hungry now! Aldi has a big Gyros kit with all the fixings for a fairly reasonable price. It's probably no where near as good as a Greek Restaurant's Gyros, but it just may be worth a try. The only part that disturbs me is that they usually use Lamb meat, and when I do indulge, I have to keep that fact tucked way in the deep recesses of my mind...
Sometimes I lovingly and jokingly call Dave my little Pita, PITA being an acronym for Pain In The A**-lol I just showed him what I typed and he said Nuh Uh and that I'm the real PITA. I guess we're the perfect pita pair...
Tammy, I hope your evening went well, and that you were able to freely discuss glad tidings and your love for Christ to those who are receptive to hearing. Reading your past posts, I know that you choose to proclaim your love for him every day, and not just on the night of the Memorial.
Thank you all very much for your comments!

Thank you for the comments! I'm trying to do little extras so that it will be our own little tradition and way of doing things as close as possible to the original. I believe that there is no exact way of doing things, just whatever comes to mind, and that your heart leads you to do. I went for years being mad at God, but one day it dawned on me that it wasn't God that I was really mad at, but rather the Watchtower which caused me to become disillusioned with anything to do with religion and spirituality.
We will also take the time tonight to talk with each other how our lives have been positively affected in different ways. Kind of like an evening of Thanksgiving and expression of appreciation for life, and what sacrifice really means, whether it be Christ's ultimate sacrifice, or smaller examples of sacrifices that humans have made for the betterment of all society.
This will be the first time since leaving the JW's that I have attempted anything like this, so it will probably turn out to be an emotional evening too, but I am happy that my Partner and I have each other to see each other through any awkwardly emotional feelings.
I'd love to hear of any other ideas, and things that others are doing this evening so that we can think of what others are doing too while we are celebrating.
Thank you again for the nice comments, and I wish you all a great evening, not only today, but everyday!!!

Tonight, I have decided to bake unleavened bread so that my Partner and I can have our own Memorial at home. The pottery Kantharos for the wine looks very similar to this Kantharos and was made over 2,000 years ago. Even though it is Greek and not Judean, it will be neat knowing that someone was actually drinking out of it before and during Christ's time here on Earth.
The bread recipe will be simple, no exact recipe, I will just be using unleavened wheat flour, water, and a smidgen of honey, and will be rolled out and baked on a hot hearth brick that I will have preheated. I don't have an ancient plate, but I do have a few pieces of antique 17th and 18th century pewter, so I will serve the bread on the earliest pewter plate that I have which is English, and dates from the 1670's and looks like this .
My Partner Dave is very religious, and he is very excited that I am doing this for him so that he/we can celebrate in our own special way, rather than having a publiushing company dictate how things should be done.
Is anyone else having their own memorial. Any special little traditions you will add?
I wish a wonderful memorial evening to those who are going to celebrate, and may your rememberance be very memorable!

Dear Abby gives some good advice
by finally awake indear abby: my boyfriend was raised in a family that didn't celebrate holidays, including birthdays.
they converted to that religion when he was 10, and while he no longer identifies with that religion, he still doesn't recognize any celebrations.. i was raised with all the traditions surrounding the holidays and the family time that comes with it.
i feel they are very important.

unfortunatly Abby is right. kick his butt to the kurb.
Or, She could be patient and kind, continue on with her celebrations without forcing her husband to be personally or overly involved, making the celebrations as fun and happy as they can be, and eventually her boyfriend/husband will see that there is nothing wrong with it and ultimately decide to join in on the festivities. Too many people nowadays are quick to throw in the towel when it comes to the first sign of relationship problems. Had My Partner and I given up during our "Clumsy" years, we wouldn't be together now to share each other's lives, both of us ultimately happy and content with each other as soulmates and confidants.

I'm glad that you all liked seeing the eggs and the parents nervously anticipating the chick's arrival! I'm a big softy when it comes to Animals and Birds, and the lives cams are really neat when you can't be there in person. It really is the next best thing to being there!
