My sad start to the day.
by Lehaa into all you animal lovers out there.. i awoke this morning to find that my dog had passed away during the night.. he was a golden retriever cross and the baby of the family.
he loved the kids and would lie down so my 2 year old could sit and lie on him.. he dug out of the back yard and got into my gardening stuff.
he ate half a box of snail bait.. i'm feeling really guilty, sould not have left it out.

What? Well from the guy whom you once said never has anything relevant to share on this board-(me), I have to let you know that even though there seem to be other topics on this board, the threads started by people like you, Blondie, JCanon, Leolaia, and others are very interesting and informative. Some things written are very deep, and when read, really challenge one's mind, and allow us to reason. Just because there are other topics about other subjects,(Sex, drugs, rock'n roll) does not make yours any less relevant. Sometimes people are in the mood to cut up and laugh, sometimes people are in the mood to learn about more serious things to help sharpen our minds. I have gone through a lot of the posts from the onset of this forum, and yes, it seems that in the beginning, there were a lot more in-depth topics regarding the Bible, God, or the teachings of the Org. I think that topics here are very diverse, but well rounded out,(albeit there are exceptions) to where certain topics, humorous, or serious, seem to balance themselves out to where people can enjoy many things. Example: Say you loved Prime Rib. You think you would love to eat it every night for dinner. The first month you Eat Prime Rib, only prime rib, no potato, no asparagus, no salad or no gravy. How long would it be before you wanted something to add to "The Meat"? Balance the prime rib with a different veggie, and a different wine, sauteed mushrooms, and it becomes more palatable over time. You play the piano. A lot of us Looove the piano, and I have heard countless people ask you about your expertease in playing it. In the past, I have tried to find threads relating to you playing, and maybe a download of any of your music. Why not start a thread about that? Religion is a spiritual thing, but also are other things, like music. As you know, playing an instrument, in order to be really good, you must become part of that instrument, and play with your very soul. That is the music that brings tears to people's eyes. But it does not have anything to do with the bible, or Bible teaching, so does that make it any less relevant? Please realize that just because there are different topics here, not all pertaining to religion, does not make the posts that are Logical, and intelligently written any less important. During our stints in the Troof, we were raised to be serious, and not deviate in any way. When we leave, we are set free into a world that is new to us; some funny, some sad, some serious things. It is so nice to finally be able to have a smorgasboard of things to learn about and "Taste".
If you are insistent in leaving, I wish you a very nice life with your Prime Rib, but remember the rest of us will be enjoying ours with all the goodies that go along with it. And yes, it would very very weird no longer seeing the Mad magazine Guy Avatar!!!

My Grandfather had a '56 De Soto Fireflite. I loved that car, and it had a push button transmission. He nicknamed the car Priscilla. Old cars are fun to look at!

Who actually did the disfellowshipping?

when i was disfellowshipped, i was really looking for a way out, although i did not want to be disfellowshipped, it was easier than making the break on my own.. i appreciate that many are distraught when they get df'd, but was the actual meeting controlled by the elders or you?.
how many were really in control of the meeting and knew that being disfellowshipped was actually a way of ensuring that you would get no more hassle from the elders?

I had no control over the meeting, as I was unaware that there even was a meeting. That's what ticked me off so bad. I had to hear of my own disfellowshipping "Thru the Grapevine". Those spineless jellyfish elders couldn't even let me know.

i am not a jehova's witness... can you see where this is going?
i have been told that her being in love with me is strictly against jw "policy"... now, i have been scowering the net for days now, becomming increasingly insomniate and i have to admit, i have found nothing to support this warning.

Hello! Sorry for your dilemma....
You will find a lot of topics here regarding this issue, as there have been a lot of people wondering the same thing. To be honest, all posts and replies point to the same direction. It would be very tough to have a relationship with someone who is in the Organization. They are taught to be free from the world, and those in it. By not being one of Jehovah's Witnesses, you would be considered part of the "World". If she decided to be in a relationship with you, there would be comments made by those in the congregation, and depending on the situation, she could be deemed by her peers as being bad asscociation, and likewise would be looked down upon by those in the congregation thereby causing depression and mental anguish. In addition, JW's are taught to put "Kingdom Interests" first in their lives. You would never be the main priority in her life. In addition, if you were to marry, the Organization gives specific instruction on what kinds of things are to be done sexually. Sex would not be fun, as "How to" is dictated by the Society, and also the Elders in the congregation, and could cause a great deal of frustration on both parties. I feel bad that you are in this situation, but there is usually only one outcome for those who pursue a relationship with a JW, and is not a positive one.
I hope you do find what you are looking for. Please make sure to do a LOT of research before you jump into a relationship, it will surely save a lot of heartache for both of you. You also may want to be honest with her, and talk about these issues with her, and get her viewpoint. You may be surprized at what is said.

Concerning Birthdays, Dogs, and the Bible
by metatron inthe watchtower can't establish clear evidence that birthdays , as a natural event, are part of 'false' religion.. so, they try to associate them with negative events in the bible and condemn them thereby.. the trouble with this reasoning is that it is foolish to condemn any practise arbitrarily simply because someone can.
find something negative correlated with it in bible events.
( how about chronology and false prophecy?).

It wouldn't surprize me one bit if one day they came out with an article about how Dogs are evil. Think about it, are not dogs recognized for their characteristic of showing "Unconditional Love"-something that goes contrary to WBTS teaching, and which they know nothing about....
