No Memorial For Ray Franz.
by Blue Grass ini've read on multiple threads that ray will not have a memorial service per his request and that he will be cremated.
on one hand this is good because it's confirms his sincerity and humility and shows he doesn't seek praise or attention.
it's more evidence that his books were written honestly and weren't written out of spite or for just monetary gain.

Maybe there can be an online Memorial Service here. At a certain pre arranged Date and time, there can be a memorial thread where everyone talks about how they were helped by Ray and just to share some memories. Everyone can share and be here no matter where we live, and it would almost be like a live chat because everyone would be there together at the same time. Maybe it will end up being one of the biggest threads on here. A copy of the thread can be sent to Cynthia, unless she is able to be a part of it. Just a thought...

That's awful. The poor kid. On top of that having to live with a wacko as a Dad.
I think the father needs a circumcision between his shoulder blades...

I wonder if the Nobel Prize Committee is as sorry for their decision as many Americans are for voting in a fraud?

Obama approves 13,000 more troops to Afghanistan
- Tue Oct 13, 1:15 am ET </form></form>
WASHINGTON (AFP) – In an unannounced move, President Barack Obama is dispatching an additional 13,000 US troops to Afghanistan beyond the 21,000 he announced publicly in March, The Washington Post reported.
The additional forces are primarily support forces -- such as engineers, medical personnel, intelligence experts and military police -- the Post said, bringing the total buildup Obama has approved for the war-torn nation to 34,000.
"Obama authorized the whole thing. The only thing you saw announced in a press release was the 21,000," a defense official familiar with the troop-approval process told the daily.
The report, posted on the newspaper's website late Monday, came as Obama weighs a request from the top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, for more combat, training and support troops, with several options including one for 40,000 more forces.
But the newspaper noted that the maximum number of US service members expected in Afghanistan by year's end -- 68,000 -- would remain the same.
Major deployments of support troops have not been publicized by the Pentagon and the White House in the past. When former president George W. Bush announced a US troop increase in Iraq, he only mentioned 20,000 combat troops and not the accompanying 8,000 support troops.
The troop increase approved by Obama brought the level of US forces deployed in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters to a total greater than during the peak of the surge in Iraq in late 2007 and early 2008.
At the start of this month, some 65,000 US forces are currently in Afghanistan and about 124,000 in Iraq, compared to around 26,000 US troops in Afghanistan and 160,000 in Iraq at the height of the Iraq surge, according to a troop count by the Post.

One of the other people nominated for the NBP was the Honorable Morgan Tsvangirai. Read a little about him, and you will see that he has done an incredible amount of hard work and determination to change Zimbabwe for the better and to bring Democracy to the people there.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsvangirai
For years, this Honorable Gentleman (Tsvangirai) has let his actions speak louder than words, and has even been physically beaten and arrested in his desire to bring real change to his country. Yet, a person who has done nothing, (besides begging, bowing to real leaders and apologizing for the United States) who can't speak without the aid of a teleprompter, and was a virtual unknown 2 years ago except for his involvement with one of the most corrupt cities in the U.S. is chosen instead. The prize may as well have gone to ASCORN ACORN.
