You got hit by a big business competitor opening in your neighbourhood I gather. Though I don't understand what a mom and pop business means can't you relocate to another less competitive yet busy place?

Issues That Made You ANGRY While You Were A Jehovah's Witness

i was raised as a witness and i was taught from a very early age that "reaching out" was the most important things i could do in life.
i was to reach out for "privileges" and get baptized.

Minimus that was an interesting and to the point description of the way elders work behind the scenes. They are indeed acting in a way that serves the interests of the org and damages those of the R&F members it purports to be looking after.
I disliked the totalitarian nature of this org, the arrogant and ego driven attitute of the FDS (10 or 20 individuals out of several million) who pretend that they have a monopoly on divine, inspiration, revelation, direction and authority, the reduction of most JWs to the status of supposedly non anointed, second rate members and the anti education policy. -

DID YOU KNOW ANY JWs WHO ACTUALLY LIKE BEING ONE ?

ones who loved telling a person why they dont celebrate christmas, birthdays etc etc.........................ones who thought it wonderful that their children missed out on so much, and stood out in school and became a target for bullying.. i myself did everthing because i was terrified of the big "a" and so thought everything was worth it.
but i hated going to meetings, hated going on fs, hating not celebtating christmas and never really excepted the birthday thing.

In congos where they don't take the strictness of the org very seriously I think the JWs are having a good time in what in essence is a social club of religious minded people. I mean they don't really push silly issues like the beard ban, not going to universities, attire protocol, not being materialistic, shunning of family members, armageddon etc. They give in exchange a few hours of service to the org and that's it. Should bad bring the worse and they or their children come to require blood to survive they will get it and just say good bye to the org.
Complete families could do well socially under these conditions of substantial laxness (= reasonableness) but not part families especially if it's just mother and children. Individuals without any family members there and particularly if they are young will find the JW society a bitter disappointment, they look down on them at a time when they need strong emotional support (how treacherous of the JW society). They will be ignored and for youths whose sexuality is highly enhanced by abundant hormones and are unable financially to marry it may well prove like a slow trip through the flames of hell. -

Does Rick have a hidden agenda? Perhaps it's too early to say that right now and the future actions of his group will show its true colours. I think now it's too early to pass judgements.
But it's understandable that due to the very negative WTS experience, ex JWs are extremely suspicious of anyone dealing with or organising things to do with religion. The WTS was created solely for the purpose of making money out of religion and certainly not to help their fellow man as they claim. -

Judging from the way other people react not bad. By this time hair are obviously thinning and face looks more wrinkled but fortunately for men physical looks are not that important but rather things like personality.

1 US gallon = 3.79 litres and £1 = $2.00, so for one US gallon at £1.09 per litre it works out at (3.79 x 2.00 x 1.09) $8.25.

Paradoxically diesel in the UK is more expensive than unleaded petrol (leaded doesn't exist anymore in the EU)the same as in several other EU countries yet in some other it is cheaper, as it should be. Eg in nearby countries this week petrol/diesel in Euro per litre: France 1.32/1.18, Belgium 1.44/1.15, Holland 1.53/1.22 Germany 1.36/1.25.

Hi Nick, I think both opinions are correct, the situation is ambivalent. The fact that there are different orientations and mind sets means a democratic environment a great change from the totalitarian WTS mindset but then again this disarray is so great that the mission of the ex JWs to substantially damage their one time oppressor has been a dismal failure.
There should be differentness but also enough common ground for a concerted effort. But it appears that this is unrealistic. -

How important are looks to you?
by Layla33 ini am just curious how much looks and superficial things plays a part in your decisions in life.
i work with a young lady, she could be my daughter, well if i was young and out there early, and she's fresh out of college, from a sorority and let's everyone know this.
anyway, she will only talk with, be friendly with the very good looking people in the office.

Used to be very important in the past but as I mature they become less and less so though I still have red lines that I wouldn't cross. Nowadays I wouldn't reject a plain looking or short woman for sure but I would never go for one that is obese or too skinny or has very marked facial skin regardless of personality and character.
On the other hand unlike during the days of immaturity a plain woman with a sound personality is preferable to a good looking one who has a personality that acts like poison to all those around her. The early days or months with such women might be sweet and hot but what happens after that? Playing bed games is not the beginning and end of life.
Totally hopeless are the women that are both plain looking and have unpleasant personalities. -

Education Bias And Favortism Within Witness Ranks
by The Rapster inlet me just say from the beginning i am not a bitter ex jehovah's witness.
i am simply a kid from back in the 70's - 80's who was completely enmeshed in it, leaving in 1984 after a sham marriage rushed by social and peer pressure within a congregation.
it took two years of a horrible personal relationship to accept that for 20 years i was misled.

That is one of the big ways, together with the shunning and blood policies, that the WTS damages the lives of large numbers of its members and it is a quite transparent manipulation as this is based on the coming of the end very soon, an end that has been imminent for over 100 years now!!!
But what can we say if many people are dumb beyond belief and buy into that blatant deception? Telling one thing to the masses and quite another to the inner circle once more exposes the fact that this org is up to no good.
