If you are in a controlling religion you have to follow convention and your personality inevitably disolves into the group, gets suppressed, but once you come out then eventually it will unfold into what it really is.
Without a free personality, well rounded, capable of resistance, and abounding in energy, no one can be truly happy hence the depressed state of many JWs.
After leaving, things changed in that I could according to my personality be democratic and tolerant and broad minded.

Personality Wise----Are You THAT Much Different Since Leaving The "Truth"?
by minimus ini believe that most people are what they are----whether they were jws or are exes.
for example, if you were a basically happy go lucky person in the hall, you probably have that same nature now.
conversely, if you were accused of always complaining and being miserable then, you probably still bitch and moan now.

For me if I went back after 18 years it would be to see how people that I never saw for that much time have changed, it will be astonishing to see the then little children now in their 20s perhaps with their own children, or those who were in their 50s now in their 70s.
Even so I don't think I ever will go. -

I think the JWs today are nearly a spent force given the additional 70 years of negative history since the early 1930s and the fact that a lot more information is available on them eg through the internet.
Their real problem was that the leadership which consisted of one or two individuals and more recently of about a dozen were either unwilling or singularly incapable of correctly governing this org.
Whatever the case they wouldn't accept advice from anyone more intelligent or gifted than they were on how to improve or run things (and there were plenty of such people in the org) and eventually the whole structure will fall apart given the fact at this advanced stage of decay they can not reform even if they want to. -

Or it would be a good idea for them to start many of their own websites, to add to those of the "evil and accursed apostates", their advantage being some unique insider knowledge of things, and exclusively directed against the GB, the so called FDS.
The way things are going I am surprised that they managed to hold in the dubs after the change in the last generation doctrine, how naive can they be? The idea of the soon to be earthly paradise is basically gone and that was the major seduction trick.
However cracks are beginning to show and it's unlikely they will be around in 20 if not 15 years from now and the internet gave them quite a pounding.

Weight control issues.
by greendawn inthe weight control issue is strange in the sense that statistically most people that lose weight later on more or less quickly regain it, and all the money spent on weight loss gets wasted.
i've had this problem for many years trying to lose 13kg (about 30lb)going from 95 to 82kg (210 to 180lb)the normal weight for my height and body frame.
i lose a lot of weight even reaching the target but then regain it so i'm always ranging somewhere between 95 and 82kg.

When I was studying with the JWs a friend of mine said to me: why do you want to get involved with those monsters?
As time went by after baptism I realised that his description of them was very apt, though originally I thought it was a satan inspired accusation it was in fact the God inspired the truth. Given their shunning policies, constant lying and changing doctrine, redefining of the basic meaning of words, and centrally tightly controlled life they are indeed monsters. -

I am learning how to thoroughly use my new digital camera including how to pass the picts to the PC and then do some special effects on them. Reading and memorising the manual takes some time.
Will go out soon to start taking photos it's great not having to use film you just preview and delete photos you don't like without worrying as before about wasting your film frames.
