sad and lonely, borg refers to the Star Trek borg. The collective, where everyone thinks alike and no one questions. But remember, "resistance is not futile." If you never watched Star Trek then that term won't make any sense to you.

Welcome Servant4Jesus. The WTS is great at adding words for instance:
Colossians 1:15-20 NWT: "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist, and he is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that he might become the one who is first in all things; because [God] saw good for all fullness to dwell in him, and through him to reconcile again to himself all [other] things by making peace through the blood [he shed] on the torture stake, no matter whether they are the things upon the earth or the things in the heavens." Colossians 1:15-20 NIV "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremecy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross."Here the WTS inserts the word "other" five times. This word does not appear in the original greek. The WTS simply adds this word because without it this verse is stating that Jesus is God. The greek word "panta" means "all things" not "all other things." The same thing is done at Phillippians 2:9: "For this very reason also God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every [other] name." The word other again is inserted changing the meaning of the verse.

Bethel: Pathway to Apostasy
by Black Man inat the 'big house' you go either one of two ways, company man or apostate.
i think for many that went, it demystified the whole organization and you saw firsthand that there wasn't holy spirit influencing anything - only the muses of sheltered, out-of-touch old men and political bureaucrats.
i work in the corporate world and i saw just as much if not more politics in bethel.

Actually food was never a problem, there was always food. Drunkenness and gluttony were rampant out there. Now quality of food, that's another story. You could eat as much as you wanted but the food wasn't always worth eating.

Another thing that I found ironic about Bethel is that everybody there was a drunk! Including me. Before going I didn't drink that much and after leaving I didn't drink that much. But while there it just seemed like everyone drank. And not just the young ones, older ones too. Especially during Gilead graduation day. I remember one time going to lunch at the 30 Columbia Hts dining room and laughing my ass off as Theodore Jaracz interviewed a couple of the graduation students. His cheeks were rosy, his eyes were dialated, he had obviously had too much to drink. But it was okay because so had everyone else. But I guess that shouldn't have been surprising, after all Rutherford was an alcoholic and with all you have to put up with at Bethel you need to drink, a lot!

BTW, "G-Job" refers to doing work outside of Bethel for money. It went against the whole vow of poverty thing. (Which I don't actually remember making.) For me, when I was at Bethel I did a lot of studying of older publications that are kept there at the big house. That was an eye opener! A lot of the stuff that used to be taught didn't even sound like the WTS. That was really disturbing. And of course at Bethel you had all of the brothers who were "big fish" back home all crammed together with all the other "big fish" from other congos and everyone with their ego still trying to be a "big fish." The expression "serving shoulder to shoulder" was a joke at Bethel. It was more like "shoving shoulder to shoulder." Everyone muscling for position and rank and the almighty "seniority." Bethel for me was definitely an eye opener. I don't think I would have been as aware of the WTS BS if I hadn't of spent time there.

Question for those who used to be "anointed"
by zugzwang ini was a pretty zealous witness back in my day.
i went out after every privilege i could get my hands on.
however i never once thought that i was of the "anointed.

Actually Frog I am kind of surprised that the GB didn't leave the naming of the "anointed" to themselves. As power hungry as they are it would seem only natural that they would want to decide who gets to be "anointed."

I was a pretty zealous witness back in my day. I went out after every privilege I could get my hands on. However I never once thought that I was of the "anointed." I am sure there must be a few posters here who at one time or another believed that they were of the JW "anointed class." I always wondered what made people believe that they had received this special privilege. To any poster who once professed or even believed that maybe they were of the "anointed" I would love to get some insight into the thought process that lead to that conclusion. And looking back at it now, how do you feel about having believed that you were of the "anointed?" Thanks.

Last Two anointed JW's on life support at Bethel !
by moshe ini posted this last week on the e-watchman website .
they didn't laugh much.. i looked on the internet and found that in 1935 you had 52,000 partakers, last year you had 8570..according to the wt, 1935 was the cutoff date for new anointed, after 1935 all are replacements.
lets assume that in 1935 the average age for an anointed was 35 yrs, probably older, but this is convenient.

It would be interesting to know how many JW's there are who are over 100.
