  Monkey trial

  it seems this whole debate, (creation v/s evolution) iz coming to the fore again, along with (religion v/s state) debate.

  my sister iz a producer for pbs & haz a documentary coming up on the scopes or (monkey trial), & i think little haz changed.. i am non-religious, but i can't help laughing when arguements are made claiming man & monkeys share common ansesters, although a few individuals on my wifes side make me wonder.

  i am not saying, i have the answers, but man iz just so radicaly different from animals!

  Who gives a goddamn where we came from? Just love each other now, and if all women are from Adam's rib-who cares? And if all men are made of dust-who cares? Made from Apes, Gorillas, Primates? Who cares? It's an interesting question, but the only other reason it gets so much attention is the blame of the fanatics...they just love to rub things in faces of the other side.

  There's a lot of debate how the dinosaurs died, and no one cares about that. So why do people get so angry about creation/evolution?

  The BESTEST present ever! (NOT)

  after reading a few threads regarding the upcoming christmas season, i thought i'd post a funny story, and ask you to add to it.. if you've ever received a wacky present, or one you had to pretend that you liked, please post it.. about 5 years ago, when i first started celebrating christmas with hubby, i got a real shocker of a present.

  a deep fryer.. now, hubby was *very* proud of himself.

  you see, about three months prior to christmas we were going through costco (warehouse type store) when i noticed they had a nice little deep fryer.

  I always do something personal for my wife, like write a poem, then listen in for something she really wants. Normally I'll give her a surprise vacation, because the only other material thing she wants is a diamond. Diamonds are more expensive.

  Merry Christmas substitute

  when i was a witness we would tell the public that although we didnt keep xmas or birthdays etc,we made up for it the rest of the year and even have special occasions for giving at other times.. well,the reality,for me as a kid,and my other brothers and sister was that we didnt cellebrate cristmas and didnt celebrate anything else so we went without,there were practically no times for giving or recieving .

  How we Know that Evolution is a Fact

  there has been a number of threads related to evolution in the last month or so.

  some posters, like penn, subscribes to a form of creationism, which i for this purpose will define as denial of large scale evolution (sometimes called macro-evolution).. even saner people sometimes alleges that scientists are unnecessarily 'dogmatic' about evolution, and that this is 'just a theory.

  ' these people may be recent exjws or jws, still believing the watchtower propaganda against evolutionary science, or accepting similar claims from various fundamentalist preachers and groups.

  Interesting, Jan. I too am looking at evolution. I think it is incredibly interesting and comforting in a way.

  I still believe in God, but it's a sort of agnostisism-athieism. I think that He made the universe, but let the order of life do it's own thing.

  But, my opinion changes day to day.

  p.s.-this is a George Carlin comedy thing, with some other crap along with it. George only said about half of it I think. The rest some fanatic made up. Some of the stuff about political correctness is true, but the add-ons are a little obsessed.

  One fanatic yelling at the other fanatics....like an elders meeting.
