Sorry, maybe I should add they didn't stay clinically dead. These are stories from people who lived through whatever happened to them, not from ghostie things.

I find the books on near death experiences very comforting. Raymond Moody and Melvin Morse are both doctors who have collected quite a few anecdotes from adults and children who were clinically dead, and what they experienced during that time. It's interesting to read, and get a different perspective from JWs anyway.

Hiding perverts?
by lfwalli in.
the subject of hiding these abusers, fill me in on these "occasions".
also, doesn't this happen in all types of groups involving humans?

Not only do they still follow the two witness rule, but also, the two meet separately with the elders. Then, if the accused denies it, the accuser and the accused must meet face to face before the elders. No sane person could think this was fair to any victim, and certainly not a small child. If makes me furious just thinking about it. The courts have understood that making a victim face his/her abuser is a repetition of the original violation, and allow kids to testify on video. But duh, JWs just sing their happy way through lalaland, because gosh, if there's no witnesses then we'll just assume the kid is lying. There's also the fact, now acknowledged by their lawyers, that elders are just untrained volunteers. It's a slippery legal thing to get out from under the current heat, but the fact is, it's a fact. They have no professional training in how to handle sexual abuse cases, and should not get involved. If someone comes to them, they should give them a phone number of someone who can give them real world advice in their next steps. In some states they are required to report it to the police. Where they're not required, they don't do it.

"Beefing-Up" your "Hours"...
by Jonty Parkin ini never actually lied about the number of hours i put in, but i was extremely creative in how i counted them!
this, of course, was born of an intense hatred and loathing for the "work", coupled with the realisation that if my average did not hit double figures, i might be taken to task over it!
don't get me wrong, i wasn't scared of knocking on peoples doors and being told to regularly to "f*ck off"- i just could see no sense in it.

Brutus, I never came to your thread to say hi back, so hi.
I agree with the national average bit one was always aware that it was best to try and keep above this if possible.
Wouldn't it be smarter to stay a bit below the national average? Cuz if everyone's trying to keep above it, then it's just going to keep going up and up, until everyone drops dead from sheer exhaustion.

New Film game -- guess the film from the line
by stillajwexelder in.
here is how it works -- i will start -- i am going to give a line from a film -- the person who replies has to guess the film and then they have to give a new line from any film they choose - and the next person has to guess that film and then they post a line i will start.

Kingdom Kondoms, a great idea. It could be sold with the slogan
"Remember, don't spill your seed upon the ground. Catch it in a Kingdom Kondom."
I think we should start a new thread for this JW product line. But I'm new, so I don't know, it's probably already been done to death here. I think I'm feeling a little too shy to start a new thread anyway.

See, now I knew that Jonty. I lived in England for a few years and, leaving aside the fact that a fanny pack is a very uncool (although useful) object, I learned very quickly that I must never ever CALL it a fanny pack or everyone around me would convulse.

So I was right and I get a go? The problem is I have a brain like a sieve and the only lines I can remember are from Arnie movies, which are much too easy to solve. How about this one?

You can call me Fanny if you're too lazy to write the whole thing. I'm not British, and anyway I wouldn't have chosen it if I couldn't take the ribbing. Besides it's a good Victorian name, or Edwardian, or something. Remember Mansfield Park? Fanny Price is my shadow side, she would have made a perfect little JW, always hoping and enduring.

The Armageddon Clock, what a great idea. I've been thinking we should come up with a line of exJW products and make a little money off of our apostasy. It's the American way. WT and Awake toilet paper, etc. The Armageddon Clock could have one of those wierd old illustrations on the face.
