  1. we wouldn't have to waste time in heating the food to the correct temperature.

  Is there a higher teenage suicide rate among teenage JW's?

  i read online someone posted that teenage jw's have a higher suicide rate four times the national average.

  i was wondering if anybody knew anything to confirm or deny this.

  a friend of mine who has had problems with suicidal thoughts is dating a jw and he is trying to convert her.

  Hello Thomas,

  I was a JW for 16 years and personally never heard of a fellow JW committing suicide. I did know of one sister that did try but she really had really psychological problems and would cut herself and then tell someone so I think it was a bit of an attention thing. It is not to say that some haven't as everyone is human but I don't think it is at all comman unless someone else can shed some more light on this topic.

  my next door neighbour is mentally abusing her 16 mo old baby...

  the question isn't if i should do something about this, but how should i respond.

  i only want to go to facs (family & childrens services) as a last resort.

  i have considered asking if i could talk to her (in a non-threatening way), because i'm concerned for both of them.

  Although it won't be an easy thing to do I think the best thing to do would be to speak to the mum first. I have a 9 month old and am suffering from post-natal depression. But I am proud to say that I do not raise my voice at him and while I do get aggitated and angry at other people I have this unbelievable calm with him (it is the most amazing thing). Maybe you could offer to give her an hours break and look after her child for her and start off building a bit of a friendship with the mum which in turn will make it easier to approach her.

  From what it sounds like this woman might be suffering from post-natal. If she is rude and abusive to you then call the social services.

  Why didn't Abraham suspect it was Satan telling him to kill Isaac?

  haven't we all heard of those who've killed others -- even their own children -- after (they claimed) hearing a voice telling them to do so?

  most people would consider these ones to have been insane if they really thought they'd heard such things.

  on the other hand, some jws, i would suspect, would think that these murderers may actually have heard demonic voices.

  If I remember correctly it was Jehovah who told Abraham to kill Isaac to see how faithful Abraham was. Don't really know where you got it being Satan or a demon unless I was asleep when we were taught that one!
