Shunning and Friendship...two different things.

this thread is started as a result of our friend lola's thread about meeting with elders and why.. it was mentioned by our poster that many would see folly in worrying about offending the ladies that helped her and that they were not true friends since they would shun her were she dfed.. is this what many of you think?.

do you think if family or friends shun you after you are dfed or daed they are not "true friends"?.

well i totally disagree.. does a mother or father who lets their child die due to refusing a blood transfusion.....not love their child?

I agree that the act of shunning does not mean that the shunner does not love the shunnee.

What is means is that the shunner loves something more (God, the Cult, their social standing in the Kingdum Hall, their friends) more than the shunnee.Unfortunately some of these are misguided.

We know that we love someone or that we are loved by the actions we give and recieve. If you totally cut someone off from your life then you have clearly made a choice that some issue or something else is more important than that relationship.

These are choices each individual makes, our choices show who and what we love the most.

Just my 2 cents.

2006 District Assembly

i was told that all of the district assemblies in the nyc/new jersey area was going to be held at the circuit assembly sites and not nassau arena.. .

I almost went, I even went to the Kingdumb Hall on Sunday - more about that on another thread, until my Dad (unbeliever) called me and said that my Mom wanted us to go as a family the way we used to when I was a young boy. My Dad and I realized that my Mom was emotional blackmailing us to attend, so we decided to both boycott the event.

We told Mom that we can all go out for brunch on Sunday as a family - so far she han't given us an answer.

By the way Blondie, it was a big deal in both all of my old congo to go out for an exspenive? meal after the memorial.

I never understood why we were celebrating if the memorial is such a soleum and heartrenching event.

Going to your own home and reflecting on the sacrifice Christ made for us would be more appropriate.

Should I go on this cruise? Help!

a woman that i know has invited me to go on a cruise this june.

with us would be her two beautiful daughters (early to mid twenties) as well as two or three other lovely women.

(yes, opportunities would abound, with these as well as others.).

Will you take your son?

Most cruises has a lot of activities for kids, so I'll bet, he would have a great time a well.

Even if you go by yourself, the change of senery and pace would do you good.

I say go for it! All work and no play makes Jack a very sad guy.

i had drinks with a friend of mine who is still active in the "lie".. i asked him point blank if he still believes that the "end" will come in his life time.

he grew up as a dub and is in his early 40's.

he answered that he hopes so.

My breaking point was definitely the shunning of friends and family members. I just couldn't see the rationale behind it. It opened my eyes and forced me to look further.

My friend however is an unique case. He has been Dfed 3 times. He was an abusive husband. He was involved in one of the biggest insurance scams every committed in this country and most of the victims were dubs.

Although he has cleaned up his act in some areas, I would never enter a business transaction with him because, I just don't think that he has a sene of fairness when it comes to money.

He is and has been a devoted friend and has been helpful to my parents in the past when they needed him, hence our strong connection.

My confusion is, if you can live a lie and a double life, isn't it possible that the Men you look to for guidance (Governing Body) are during the same and may only have their best interest at heart, not the best interests of the Rank and File?

I agree that I also see myself in my friend ( ten year ago) but I see almost fear in his eyes went I begin to talk about the flaws of the Borg.

He seems to be logically in so many other ways, but he fears hearing anything apotaste-ques.

I wonder where people like him would draw the line, would they go on a hunger strike for the borg? Would the leave their homes and possessions for the Borg? Would they hurt themselves physically for the Borg? Would they hurt others for the Borg?

Where does the mind control end?

I asked him point blank if he still believes that the "end" will come in his life time. He grew up as a dub and is in his early 40's. He answered that he hopes so. This is a big difference from his former position, in the past he has been adament that the "end" would come soon.

Even with his change in position, he still refuses to read any material that does not fully support the dubs. I can't even get him to acknowledge the UN fiasco. He is socially deeply connected into the Borg, but just how faithful is he if he consideres me, an ex dub, and smoker his best friend.

Trying to at least get him to discuss openly the doctrines of his religion, I aked him to have a bible study with me. His answer: he didn't feel qualified to study with me and he would ask an elder in his hall to do it.

Of course I refused his offer, and we changed the subject, because he was getting very uncomfortable and I was getting mad.

I know in his heart he does not believe, but I can't undertand why he won't openly admit it.

Do you know other Dubs who refuse to admit the truth about the Borg?
