Good question.
I remember as late as the 1960's hearing the Sunday public talk on the radio.
it would seem that for its day using the available tecnology was a progressive move.
did the society just decide one day in a watchtower that it was all wrong.
how did everyone that had to do this work react.
Good question.

.
did anyone have to get dunked twice at their baptism because you still had your big toe sticking out of the water ????.
ive seen this happen a couple of times.
My cousin was dunked 4 times before it took.
He was very tall and the pool was very shallow.
It upset him a great deal, especially when some in the congo started saying that the "Holy Spirit" was saying that he wasn't ready.
He disassociated himself about 6 months later.
6 months ago i was d'fd and i am right now confused as to what i want to do cuse i can put my letter in for reinstatement now but i just dont know if that would be the best desicion for me.
one side of me says go back to the jw org and do all that i can in the org so that i can make it to the paradise.
but then one side says just do what u want to do til u die.
I don't think that any of us "posters" can give you the magic answer to your questions.
The best you can do is to make a decision about your future that enables you to live a productive life that You can be proud of.
In the end you need to be happy with your choices in life and not give up the priveledge and responsibility of making your life decesions to anyone, or organization.
Are you prepared to play by the Borgs rules?
If not are you prepared to get your ass thrown out at a moments notice because of some one elses belief?
Are you prepared to walk away from the relationships you currently have, including family?
These are tough questions, with tough answers, but you need to be honest with your feelings and how you want to live your life.
Either way , don't fall into despair. Some how things things seem to work themmselves out for the best.
That's just my 2 cents.
Good Luck.
did anyone see the family guy episode this week that had peter singing the praises of being rich.. .
one line in the song was you can stop the "jehoovahs at the gate" , they showed a witness being stopped at the gate while getting smacked in the head with a watchtower.. .
i love this show, especially stewie..

there is a very good used book/music/dvd store near my home, and i visit them regularly.
i don't own an ipod, but on this computer i have currently 4172 songs stored on the hard drive, 341 hours worth of music.
however, i'm sure that many folks have even more.
I have 115 songs on my Ipod.
I like a lot of songs, but I only down load music I want to hear on a regular basis.
yep, i'm gonna be 38 in december.
this year i've decided to have a party.
so, come and join me on december 9th in brooklyn.
Hey, I would like to join you.
Where in Brooklyn?
when i stopped going to meetings i immediately found myself spending more time with my kids.
no sunday/monday evenings preparing talks.
no fri/sat preparing the wt.
The families of MS and Elders definitely suffer.
I spend more time trying to help other people with family matters and preparing for meetings and giving talks and handling general duties around the congo, my own marriage was falling apart.
But my family couldn't bear the fact that I wanted to step down.
because i am one of jehovah's witnesses!
remember these parts in the assembly?
some "worldly" person looses a large stash of money and then the jw returns it and brings glory to jehovah's name?
There was a sister from Queens NY who stole thousands of dollars from her employer and was caught. She was arrested and ordered to pay the money back, but she was not Dfed. A couple of years later she stole thousands of dollars from a different employer and was sentenced to prison leaving a husband and 2 small children behind.
This time she was dfed, but her husband couldn't divorce her because she hadn't committed adultery.
i'm curious ~ has anyone noticed how young elders are these days?
in my old congregation, 6 of our 8 elders were under the age of 30, one of them 23, unmarried.
the father being the p.o...ironically.
I was an elder at 24 in the 80's. I wasn't mature enough to run my own life much less someone else's.
this post comes out every year!.
for us it was the closet we ever came to "celebrating a worldly holiday.
even my nazis jw mom wanted to do it!.
We always had a Thanksgiving dinner in my house every year. My devout pioneer mother always used the excuse that because my dad was a non believer, she was only doing her part as a submissive wife.
What a load of crap!
