id like to hear some *reasoned* explanations for why you believe the bible is gods word.
ive been so fascinated by the study of *real* biblical scholarship since i began educating myself, i now find it incredulous that i used to take the bible as divine, along with all jws and tons of christians, including a good number here.
so id like to entertain your very best lines of evidence that this is the real deal.. mox
Interesting that you bring this up...this has been wieghing on my mind.
I have recently been questioning the validity of the Bible....the dates don't match up.
I just resently have figured this out.....Funky....took me long enough.
P.S. The Bible isn't God's Word. It's a collection of books that have been declared to be God's word for so long that some people refuse to question it. The ones who do question it are not the fools.
I believe we are (most of us) brainwashed from day one to just accept that the bible is the true word. The more I study History the more I realise the dates are not right.
Moxy.and Funky...Interested in what you have learned and maybe you can steer me toward some good resources.

Great article.
november 26, 2002. by larry witham, the washington times.
religious broadcaster pat robertson said yesterday the news media and political leaders have failed to educate americans about violence in the koran and in islamic history and wishes president bush had never said that "islam is a religion of peace.".
"he is not elected as chief theologian," mr. robertson said.. .
The public would be better served, Mr. Robertson said, if the media would investigate the content of the Koran and what he says are many passages that incite Muslims to kill nonbelievers. But reporting on that, he said, "is not politically correct."
I agree 100% with this statement.
Lets do away with this "politically correct" stuff and just get down to the "truth".

Woman finishes college after 57 years
Associated Press SARASOTA, Fla. - Bernice Strickland started college in 1945. She finished Tuesday. Strickland, 76, was the oldest of 202 graduates receiving bachelor's or master's degrees from the University of South Florida during commencement exercises Tuesday night. Strickland majored in English and American Literature. "I taught her five times, and she never missed a class," said literature professor Susan Harrington. "That was remarkable." Strickland, a retired kindergarten teacher, left the Florida State College for Women - now known as Florida State University - in 1947, and didn't resume taking classes until 1995, when she enrolled at Indian River Community College in Stuart. She had no computer skills and had never read a William Shakespeare play. Now she's a literature graduate, one who got mostly A's at USF. Strickland said she always had wanted to complete her degree and decided to make those plans a reality after her husband, Lantis, died. "When he passed away, I wanted something to do to pass the time," she said. "I decided then it was time to go back." |

the story entitled "driver in janitor's death sent to prison" comes out of eugene, oregon.. http://www.registerguard.com/news/2002/12/18/1d.cr.pizzamanslaughter.1218.html .
after reading that story, on the left side of the page where the news is located, click on local.
at the top of today's heading is another jw related story: "longo slayings still pain community.
http://www.registerguard.com/news/2002/12/19/1a.longo.1219.html
If I understand this article correctly, Longo was a JW and killed his family. They mentioned other organizations collecting funds ...but no mention of the Jehovah's Witnesses. I find It ironic that one of the organizations is for child abuse victims.
This statement really got to me.....and they call them "worldly people"!! Where are the JW's???!!
Beckstead said the loss of the Longo children, who lived for a time with their parents in Waldport before they moved to Newport, has helped bring the community together and create a sense of kinship. "It's like these children didn't belong to any of us, so therefore they belonged to all of us," he said.

i had a dram.
some of you may life but being a newby ifelt i needed to experience this with you all, what do you think of it please read this ,from a lowly man.. the dream started where i was on the top floor of an old building, which had unstable floors there was no way down & no stairsas i looked out of the window i was enclosed by wire fencing with no way out there was a hole in the floor where there should have been stairs,i started to panick ,suddenly on the floor below a young woman came into view i asked her to help me get down, she didnot seem to want to help at first, but then placed an old type of unsteady ladder up in the stairwell so that i could climb down,i felt it wasnot safe to traverse down therfore i asked her a question as to tryinf another way down ,eventualy i climbed down the ladder, iwas still traped inside a perimitor chainlink fence,i then made my way out of the building through a window directly onto this old fence which was swaying & buckling beneath my weight, i ended up inside another compound at a higher level as i was about to touch the outer perimeter fencing i noticed that i was surrounded by a group of wolves which came running towards me,oww nooooi cried, all but one of the wolves then but dissapeared into tunnels alone wolfcame right up into myface & started groeling of sorts i then said something to the wolf ,then the wolfstarted singing,to me in a very happy voice (duet) this lasted a few minutes iwas then trying to climb over the enclosure fencing with the wolf trying to follow me,i was pushing the wo;f back but it still wanted to follow,.
the next thing i recall .
Thats Why i eat all that ice cream before bed...hehe.
Serouisly...I used to not believe that there was anything to dreams.I saw this forensic science show about this (true story) little boy that got deathly ill.The doctor's had no idea what was wrong with him. He almost died 3 times. The kid had a dream one night why he was sick ..He was right and the doctors saved his life.
Now ...if I can just figure out mine.
been here awhile now, mostly as a lurker, but while reading alot of posts, i feel justified in formulating an opinion on who the coolest person on this board is.
so my vote goes to ....drum roll.... .
valis .
Whoever has the coolest response to this thread.... wins.Let you know the results later.
