I'm currently REALLY hung up on Kid Rock's latest "Rock n Roll Jesus"....
It's kinda eclectic...rap, rock, country, ballads..rolled into one CD...
And yeah...my kids are also out of the house so I'm out of the loop, sort of. Fortunately I have younger friends at work who keep me up to date!

i am looking for the best granite countertops that are stain resistant.
if you have one, do you like it or not?
When we re-did our kitchen 2 years ago, we got granite countertops...Ours are finished so they are stain resistant...and as long as you avoid products that contain ammonia on them, they won't have to be refinished for years and years and years. We use either Glass Plus or the Green stuff made by Clorox (I think)...it's the stuff that is citrus based.
I've cut veggies on mine (no cutting board), cut pizza, etc. and they stand up to it all. We got ours at a local place in Portsmouth VA. Compared to Corian, they were really not that expensive. I think we paid about 5000.00 including installation, for 53 square feet of countertop. I LOVE mine.
Oh...by the way...we got the stuff called "Uba Tuba", it's a dark green with flecks of gold and silver...quite pretty.

they tell you when it's time...and she was telling us.
the neighbor found her in his yard having a grand mal.
i adopted her in 2002 from a shelter, shes a sheltie, and she was fine and wonderful and loved us and protected us.
I'm so sorry for your loss. They are like our kids...

lets have a free for all .
i would say why dont you have a book study anymore but that one is done to death... we had a witness recently and i asked for the latest jw only mag (he didn't realise i used to be in his cong... have i done that good a job at fading?
) it was a laugh to see the two of them struggle to come up with an answer.... ok lets here the best you can come up with, there has to be some better than mine, what question will leave them stuck for an answer...... .
This worked on one of my stepdaughters...
Why do you call your religion "the truth" when Jesus said HE was the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE? Is your religion usurping Christ?
She sputtered and spit and hissed for a good 10 minutes!

military waivers for ex-convicts increaseby ann scott tysonwashington post staff writer .
tuesday, april 22, 2008; page a01 the army admitted about one-fourth more recruits last year with a record of legal problems ranging from felony convictions and serious misdemeanors to drug crimes and traffic offenses, as pressure to increase the size of u.s. ground forces led the military to grant more waivers for criminal conduct, according to new data released yesterday.
such "conduct waivers" for army recruits rose from 8,129 in fiscal 2006 to 10,258 in fiscal 2007. for marine corps recruits, they increased from 16,969 to 17,413. in particular, the army accepted more than double the number of applicants with convictions for felony crimes such as burglary, grand larceny and aggravated assault, rising from 249 to 511, while the corresponding number for the marines increased by two-thirds, from 208 to 350. the vast majority of such convictions stem from juvenile offenses.
I'd like to weigh in on this topic perhaps from another perspective. My son is finishing his training at Ft. Knox KY. He is not a high school graduate, but has his GED. He scored high enough on the ASVAB to go into almost any career field he chose. He chose M1A2 Abrams tanks. He also needed a couple of waivers, mostly for his atrocious driving record, but one was for a misdeamenor possession of paraphenalia charge. His waiver for that took 2 months, and was finally signed by a general at the Battalion headquarters.
Since his enlistment, he has already been awarded a few honors, squad leader, all outstandings in his academics, his physical testing, his marksmanship and most of all...his outstanding in military bearing. He has been recommended for promotion to E3 upon graduation (May 9th) and for tank driver.
Some of these kids just need a chance to prove that they can make it...away from the influences they fell under. My son did...
The article makes it sound like there's a bunch of uneducated felons enlisting...that is not the truth...there's individual stories behind their collective statistics.
TB (who is PROUD of her soldier)
i was born into the religion and 3 years ago on april 1st decided to move out i haven't gone since.
i moved out live on my own decided to go to college.
i remember the meetings it was never encouraged to go to college why i ask.
Because the kids will "get smart"...my stepdaughter graduated from high school, went to college and is now in nursing school...and by the way, she hasn't set foot in a Kingdom Hall in about 3 years. She was baptized in a local non-denominational church on Easter Sunday...
Her sister, didn't go to college...is still living at home, dating "future elder material" and works in a little boutique in the mall...and is at the Hall every time there's a meeting...
Hmmm...

my great nephew, 8 months old, was killed yesterday.
so far appears to have been murdered by his sitter, a couple with whom my nephew and his girlfriend have been living.
they beat and drowned this little baby.
I am so sorry...my heart goes out to you and your family at this horrible time. You all will be in my thoughts.
