Apology given in full, Corvin. I truly think that is time to bow out of the forums for good. I wish so many good things for you all.

Do you still preach?
by Theocrat inmany here are not jehovah's witnesses anymore because of one reason or another, but do you still preach?
do you still think that it is important for a christian to preach?
just wondering.

Being a perfect man, Jesus could have no doubt organized the most extensive and perfect "charitable efforts" and "relief efforts" that would have encompassed the entire earth and fed every hungry mouth. But was that his purpose in coming to earth?
Jesus himself said that he came to earth "to bear witness to the truth." He was more interested in giving people something that would benefit them eternally than just something that would bring temporary relief.

I guess the scriptures that I had in mind when starting this post were: Matthew chapter 25 and James 4:17. In Matthew 25, Jesus' parable about how we spend our time preaching is very clear, and James 4:17, saying "if someone knows what he should be doing and still doesn't do it, it is a sin for him."

Again, sorry for the delay. I didn't lose interest in the topic. I just really wonder if people still see it as a Christian obligation to preach. Scriptures were supplied as the topic continued to be challenged.

Sorry for the delay guys. I've got a bunch of stuff going on at the same time. I want to get something straight first, though. I don't judge anybody here. Deep down, I don't think one single person on this forum is condemned for what they do or don't do. If anybody thinks truly in their heart that what they do is the right thing, how can a God of love and justice punish that? I'm not saying that those people are, in fact, right, because truth isn't relative.
I didn't mean to come across any other way.About Acts 20:20, I was just showing that scripture because of the many complaints about going "house to house". I was just pointing out that it was a scriptural practice. Scriptures such as Matthew 28:19, 20 and Matthew 24:14 point out that Jesus' followers would preach.

I guess my purpose here is to provide a defense for the truth. The majority of people's judgement here is very clouded.

Shamus,
He told the congregation at Corinth that at 1 Corinthians 11:1. My mistake on saying 'Ephesus'.

Shamus,
Paul set the example for others. He told the ENTIRE congregation of Ephesus to "become imitators of me, as I am of Christ."

Acts 20:20 is showing that 1st century Christians went from house to house. But beyond that, they talked to everyone they came in contact with, with the goal of explaining the "good news of the Christ".
