  ... actually, connie was too nice to the jw leaders in her questions ... and i appreciate the two young ex-jw girls who connie interviewed ... they were straight forward, clear, and credible ... and they did a good job making the case ... and kudos to bill bowen for calling the watchtower's statement a bold-faced lie, because that is what it is ... the watchtower society clearly lied as to what they say their policy is, and what has been practiced in real life.

  picture the scene:.

  you are a young single brother with no other jw family members.

  you manage to tot up 90hrs a month in "field service";spend five hours per week preparing your watchtower for the study, however you are not an extremely extrovert person and don't try to "impress" the elders and the co. it seems though that this "spiritual" person never seems to be appointed as a ms or an excesively long time passes by before he does become such.

  My situation was much the same as you. Extrovert yes. But a brown-nose, ass-kissing MS, I was not. I always called "a spade a spade, and as a consequence was never called to the "higher privilege of "elder". Just as you. I was not in their eyes what you would call a team player. An elder told me once, You know what your problem is? You talk to much".

  I hated the door-to-door perpetual membership drive a.k.a. field service, but busted my ass in other ways. i.e. Quickbuilds, KH maintenance, $ to C.O's & D.O's. etc. Finally I said to myself screw this. And here I sit an post. he he he. Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.

  i have been coming to this forum since around september 2001 and although i haven't had much to say i have gained a lot by just coming here and reading.

  i have laughed and cried and got really angry along with posters here and have enjoyed most of my time here.

  now i am moving to the country to be with my daughter and her kids and i won't have internet access there which is a good thing because it will get me out from behind this screen.

  in october of 2000, i faded away from the watchtower.

  like most people, i have family and friends who are jw's (including my wife and parents).

  fading is generally the best method for people in that situation.

  well, i've reached my goal of 2000+ posts and have decided to move on.

  i've never felt that i've contributed much here, anyway, and since my background is not jw, it's easy to see why some here see me as an interloper and trespasser.

  i may look in from time to time and (to be polite) be involved in threads i've started, but i need to get a life outside this board.

  i wonder if this post is still valid and even if the watchtower can be saved based on the depth of the scandal that's coming... anyway, i wouldn't mind hearing comments on my proposals...] .

  brothers, all you need to do is look to the mormons to see what the watchtower organization could potentially become.
