i was df'd for 'bad association' and drinking....and i'm sure my suicide attempt right before my last judicial meeting was included in that somewhere (even though it was never mentioned)...i'm not sure that those were "disfellowship-able" charges, especially since i was (in their eyes) a good jw until then and had never been on reproof of any kind....however, at the meeting the week after i was df'd the 'special talk' was about drinking and sex, and (like you, sp) i never admitted to any sexual indiscretions and none were ever proven....

Were you illegally disfellowshipped?
by hubert inbased on "official" bible based doctrine, were you "illegally disfellowshipped?
i have been reading many threads on disfellowsipping, and it makes me wonder if there were many who were disassociated, or thrown out of the org.
for reasons other than what the watchtower officially teaches?

woo hoo....JW Mom is coming to my wedding!
by AuSet in....my whacked out jw hardliner mom just informed me this morning that she and my entire jw family will be coming to my wedding on oct. 1st.
this has come totally out of the blue as previous to today she did not give any indication of caring one way or the other whether i got married or not, and had said to me a couple of times "oh, i'll just stay and watch over the food.
i think my more liberal jw sister has managed to talk some sense into her at last.

that is awesome!! my hardcore jw mom decided to come to my 'worldly' wedding as well...even with the threat of my hubby's lesbian humanistic jew rabbi aunt performing the ceremony....which, unfortunately, didn't happen...but we did have a female jewish cantor perform our non-denominational ceremony...which included a lot of american indian elements, (not to mention my vows which included bruce lee & missy elliott quotes) and was out in 'the showiness of nature'..haha she actually commented that it was a nice ceremony, "considering"...

eating the emblems AFTER memorial...
by AuSet insorry this is a little late for a memorial post, but did any of ya'll eat the emblems like it was just ordinary food immediately after the memorial?
they always did this at my kh, even the elders would be handing it out and we always would fight over who got a piece of the "bread.
" this usually occured out in the parking lot after most of the new/interested people had already high tailed it outta there.

my grandfather was an elder, so the wine and bread (manischewitz & matzo) got taken home and drunk/eaten....which i think is why i love matzo and eat it every passover/memorial/insert-your-holy-day-here...

What is your passion in life?
by Samdownunder ini was just thinking about how so many were so caught up in the dubs for so many years, and at the time we probably would have all felt that the truth and spreading the good news was our passion.
so what is your passion now?
what makes you tick and excites your senses and captivates you?

When They aren't "Attractive"
by simplesally inthis thread is in response to comments running in logan's thread about girls wearing 'hottie' t-shirts and debate (sort of) about beauty.
xena posted this: my ex was badly burned awhile back....and i had a few ignorant people actually comment to me that they didn't know how i could still find him attractive, they would be repulsed by the scarring he had....because they couldn't see that the person he is and was is an extremely "hot" person.
to this day when he goes swimming without his shirt there is inevitably the dumbass person who stares at the scars on his chest and arms....points and whispers to their friends so they all turn and look...shallow insensitive people with nothing better to do than sit in judgement on another person due to their appearance.

i know what you're talking about, sally....my husband is a 'big' guy and i've had people, who don't know how wonderful and kind and funny he is, ask me 'why did you marry someone that looks like that?'...it's a society of savages, frankly...and some people are so shallow that they only see the outside....
also, have you noticed that you can meet an 'attractive' person who either says or does something completely abhorrant to you? you then can see them for the 'ugly' person that they are....i learned a long time ago never to judge a person by the way they look...i would have missed out on knowing a lot of really great people if i had...

What's your favourite word?
by myauntfanny inbecause of another thread i got curious about whether many people have a favourite word.
i've never really gotten over my first love, which was supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (seems like there ought to be a comma in there somewhere).
but that's not really a word.

i ADORE the word ubiquitous...as in 'the ubiquitous mr. lovegrove'
but, mostly, i like the word lascivious...
