as a stay-at-home mom, i can occasionally find a few minutes every few days to play on the computer, but the amount of activity on this forum during us working hours is pretty surprising.

folks from other parts of the world notwithstanding, how are you american members able to post during work hours?.

End of the World Almost Came Yesterday

it was an asteroid that passed by earth yesterday.

it came as close as 4 times the distance to the moon, which is fairly close, galactically speaking.

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- A giant asteroid is heading for Earth and could hit in 2014, U.S. astronomers have warned British space monitors.

But for those fearing Armageddon, don't be alarmed -- the chances of a catastrophic collision are just one in 909,000.

Asteroid "2003 QQ47" will be closely monitored over the next two months. Its potential strike date is March 21, 2014, but astronomers say that any risk of impact is likely to decrease as further data is gathered.

On impact, it could have the effect of 20 million Hiroshima atomic bombs, a spokesman for the British government's Near Earth Object Information Centre told BBC radio.

The Centre issued the warning about the asteroid after the giant rock was first observed in New Mexico by the Lincoln Near Earth Asteroid Research Program.

"The Near Earth Object will be observable from Earth for the next two months and astronomers will continue to track it over this period," said Dr Alan Fitzsimmons, one of the expert team advising the Centre.

Asteroids such as 2003 QQ47 are chunks of rock left over from the formation of the solar system 4.5 billion years ago. Most are kept at a safe distance from the Earth in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

But the gravitational influence of giant planets such as Jupiter can nudge asteroids out of these safe orbits and send them plunging towards Earth.

quite often i am surpised at how my jw thinking still controls me without my knowledge.

and the stark differences between the jw idea of "christianity" and idea of "christianity" displayed by the church i now attend.

i work in a children's ministry music program .

thats great dawn. and being shown compassion,understanding and love does make a big difference.

i've said many times if i had been shown any kind of love at all , heck if i'd even been NOTICED i never ever would have left. all doctrinal questions wouldn't have mattered because the people representing god would have shown love and that would have been enough for me.

i'm happy for you and your pastor and churchmates sound like great people.

my mom is a psychodub

i told my mom that i tried to commit suicide and she asked me who was going to have a bible study with my son.

there was no other word's from her other than that.

not even a reaction.

mrs tim.. i think if your at the point that you have contemplated suicide you need to step back , evaluate your own needs FIRST. you said you have kids, they need you whole. my advice is not to try to do this on your own but seek out some counseling. many people have been where you are now.

your IMMEDIATE family needs need to come SECOND, that being your kids and your marriage. ask yourself what it will take to have a happy home. it may be if you leave the "truth' you will be shunned by your mother and outside family. be prepared for that. but you can survive that. a lot of times that will resolve itself with time. but even if it doesnt, you need to take time NOW to heal.

when i was at my lowest the one thing that kept me from contemplating suicide was the fact that children of people who commit suicide have ( i forget the number) a high chance of doing that too. think about that.our babies are so important and they need their mamas. but most importantly realize that your life is valuable, to yourself, your kids i'm sure to your husband since you post together i am assuming you have a pretty good marriage.

theres a lot of help out there for people in our situation. your not alone. therapy helped me .. heck therapy saved me. it reminded me how important I am . being a JW takes away your self worth. only your "works" are worth anything. but thats wrong thinking.

you have life, your experiences your joys your sorrows all make up who you are . your not tossing your family away , your working on your own life and your childrens lives. its their choice and their loss if they shun you.

i'm rambling .. but i want you to seriously look around, see that your not alone, see your own self worth and see that dark days DO pass. and theres a lot of untapped strength in ourselves that is hidden while we are so busy trying to be a good jw. theres a lot of us around to show that. hugs

as a kid.. people told us kids that weren't putting as many hours in service in as others to " try to be more like the ****** kids"

i was poor and lived way out in the country, we regularly went out on saturdays. since i didnt get enough time in to suit i was never invited anywhere with the "spiritually minded " kids.

i felt like the adults were idiots cuz these "spiritual" kids would go to other nearby states on weekends to drink and smoke pot , would come to the sunday meetings hung over , were sleeping around with one particular young sister who did all the males ( i knew of 9 she had sex with from the time she was 14 - 17 )so the idiot adults made me feel not good enough for jehovah. it was my first lesson in " ITS NOT HOW YOU LIVE ITS YOUR PR THAT COUNTS" i didnt tell on them cuz ya know what? they were elders kids, i knew better than to tell on them and have the vindictive bunch on my ass. i was an invisible misfit who couldnt do enough to please anyone so i just had the " wait on jehovah attitude that someday it'd be noticed that i was a decent person and they were all hypocrits.. now i'm fading away and they are all still special pioneers , ones a co, 2 are missionaries.. i guess i should have drank, fornicated and smoked in hiding like they did.

the last hall i was in was just tired. everyone seemed tired. thats the only way i can describe them. our PO was too busy taking care of his circuit duties ( appeal commitee ,assembly duties) several other elders too busy taking care of their building committee responsibilities.. didnt seem like any of the elders were minding their own herd of sheep. the last CO visit i went to even his talk seemed tired. and not that many bothered to show up to listen. (O the funniest meeting was "written review only about 25% of people attended most took it as a night off lol) memorial attendance is down, i talked to one df'd fella that usually went to memorial and asked why he didnt last year and he said the last 3 or 4 yrs the memorial talk was like a script ,very precise, legal , brief cold talk and he figured he'd heard it already why waste his time.

turmoil is in every hall. some are better than others if they have warm loving elders. but overall in my judgement the WTBS is taking all the love and warmth the religion used to offer and replacing it with cold robotic useless info .

YOUR NOT GOOD ENOUGH, YOU DONT DO ENOUGH, YOU DONT GIVE ENOUGH, GIVE MORE MORE MORE. if you prayed more , gave more, studied more, placed more you might get more out of the religion! but as it is Jehovah doesnt want you because your below the national average of hours.

no wonder i'm nuts.
