techniques used in print and speech by the Watchtower to keep the members 'united'.
i hope i dont miss it when you post it.. make sure you post a link here in this thread when you do.
hello dear friends.... well..the saga continues!!
as many of you know last new years the jws attacked our "frosty" and egged our home.
" the co said, "so you are both not willing to meet with the elders..?".
i'd be calling HIS boss ( district overseer?) and tattle he wished you a "great christmas" !
another comment i thought was typical " WE ARE NOT HAVING THIS CONVERSATION" why? cuz he knows it wont go his way thats why.
in the press release made public addressing abuse, it states that: "however, even if the elders cannot take congregational action, they are expected to report the allegation to the branch office of jehovah's witnesses in their country, if local privacy laws permit.
in addition to making a report to the branch office, the elders may be required by law to report even uncorroborated or unsubstantiated allegations to the authorities.
if so, we expect the elders to comply.
I'm wondering why the leadership takes this stance of secrecy in the first place?
I think it all stems from the Watchtowers bold statements thruout its history that it is the only TRUE religion led by Jesus himself as king , allowed to use gods name and that all other religions are "false" religions led by Satan, so of course in those other religions you will see horrible things happening like priests molesting children . It just wouldnt happen in the Only TRUE religion because they have gods holy spirit unlike the other religions. so when bad issues such as pedophilia, mismanagement of organizational funds ( ie: the convention parking lot scandal), joining the UN as an NGO and other potential bad publicity that may expose them for not being led by god anymore than any other religion they tried to hide it as a way of controlling its members. In this information age however, it's being harder and harder to maintain that stance of being "seperate" from other religions and appearing to be led by Jesus as king.

excellent! i hope you're inspired to finish. part two "does the watchtower ever torture its members? ........reminds me of a post last month or so linking a wikipedia article about shunning and how it is psychological torture. like those of us who've lost our family because they shun us didn't already know that.

the only thing the society definitely demands them to do is the following:
they are expected to report the allegation to the branch office of Jehovah's Witnesses in their country
this thread is inspired by a comment made on another thread, but i thought it would make an interesting discussion.. self deceit is described as a "misconception that is favorable to the person who holds it".
my premise is that faith is a form of self-deceit - lying to oneself.. so, i would ask of the "faithful" the following questions and would request that they be read carefully to ensure no that there is no misunderstanding of purpose.. 1) in what way is faith not self-deception?.
2) is a person who has faith in a god that you do not believe in, say for example siva, practicing a form of self-deception?.
excellent discussion, my watchtower education prevents me from addressing the more scientific things discussed so i'll just give my opinion/answers to the original question.
1) In what way is faith not self-deception? the very definition of faith seems to allow for self deception. Faith is a firm belief in something for which there is no proof . no proof = more chance of self deception
2) Is a person who has faith in a God that you do not believe in, say for example Siva, practicing a form of self-deception?
This one I'll answer with something I've said many times .. For everything i may believe 100 % to the point that i'd give my LIFE for that belief, another person has a total opposite 100% belief that he/she will give their life for, another person with 100% belief in their god will cut their mother/daughter/father/son/brother/sister out of their life because of that belief, even worse, another person has 100% belief in something that they will KILL another person in the name of that belief. Belief has a lot of power but belief has no value.Every belief can be discredited by someone somewhere , with logical arguments and evidence to the contrary of your belief and you find out you've given your life or taken someone elses life for nothing. And all the while, your god, my god, the other persons god all stay silent and the only power that god has is the power that you yourself gave him with your belief . he/she /it has still done nothing and remained silent.
oliver has skin cancer and he is bleeding all over my mom's house.
oliver is suffering so bad and all we can do is hold him now.
later today he will be put down and i don't want to do it.
its a tough thing to go thru and always a big loss to the family. hugs
this is too important to bury within an old thread.
that thread hashed over several items of interest which you may want to read by way of a refresher: .
is gail bethea-jackson truly a doctor as the watchtower site claims?
a prime example of how the powers that be at the watchtower society seem to misquote or misrepresent people to fit their agenda. absolutely their integrity is very much in question.
thanks for posting the letter FF
i know about the 'new light' that is about to come out, and i fully realize how this will greatly extend the 'last days'.
what i am wondering is, where is it stated that the anointing process is still taking place or has taken place in the past few years?
marking this thread for future reference.
