Yes my mother is convinced that the WTBTS needs more money than I do in my old age. She doesn't car if I'm homeless or on welfare, the WTBTS comes first! I've tried to show her how much real estate they have and how much money they are worth and she just thinks I'm lying!! Nice! It's not like she has a ton of money or anything but most parents want what's best for their kids but not my mother! I told her as much but that doesn't matter to her. She's even said as much to me on several occasions since "I left Jehovah" I don't deserve anything. Ah the love these people promote!

My second cousin never liked the JW's growing up, the rest of her immediate family is very zealous. She ran away at 14 blah blah blah. Lived with several different men in her 20's. She's now 31. Her grandma died last year and now she's decided to return to the fold! Almost like overnight! Oh and Im DF'd so she has now unfriended me on FB too. She's decided that she wants to be part of this organization that "does so much good." WTF? So I'm just wondering how long this phase will last before she decides she wants sex again and hooks up with another non witness boyfriend. HA!

Absurd WT Control in April 2012 KM
by LostGeneration inyeah in the section on attending the convention, you will find this gem:.
"therefore, we should give attention to our dress and grooming while in the convention city, including when we check in at the hotel.
arriving in shorts and a t-shirt would not reflect dignity.".

Yes I was never allowed to wear jeans to the movies even when I was a young witness. I absolutely hated getting dressed up and still do. Always hated the no pants thing for women, like who cares? What's wrong with a nice pant suit? Brother!

If one were to shun and ignore Witnesses does that make one just as bad as them?
by ThomasCovenant infor all the criticism of jehovah's witnesses' shunning policy, if one (an ex jw) were to deliberately avoid contact with witnesses and, dare i say, shun them, does that mean that one is just as bad?.

I have a situation where my second cousin who is 30 years old and has not been a witness as an adult but is apparently thinking about going back because she is now shunning me and she's is not a witness and for most of her life has rejected the teaching etc of the JW's. Her father, my first cousin, is an uber elder in the congregation and has two other daughters that are uber witnesses as well. One lives at Bethel with her husband. We had connected last summer and were getting along great and then her grandma died (her dad's mom) and everything changed. But she's living in sin and allowed to walk between both worlds quite a bit. But I can't believe she's actually shunning me and she's not a witness!! I'm pretty sure she got some coaching from her dad but how can she do this when she's not practicing being a witness? I guess she plans on going back if she's shunning me now! Oh and no explanation from her, just no answers to emails and then finally unfriending me on FB. I find this unbelievable! Oh and she's always talking peace and love too! So to me she's worse than the JW's shunning me since she's living in sin etc but backs them up? WTF?

How can this situation be okay?
by Lynnie inmy cousin is an uber witness and elder and has been for 35+ years.
he has a daughter and son-in-law in bethel and a daugther and son in law that are pioneers and one daughter who is "on the fence" about the whole religion.
his sister is an inactive jw for 35+ years and her husband is a deacon at the local episcopalian church.

Well his sister, my cousin told me 35 years ago that you could leave the JW's at any time if you didn't want to be a JW anymore. Well that worked for her but not for me, I had elders stalking me two years later after I moved away from home to get away from them. I'll never understand how she could escape unscathed and I got the worst sanctions ever. But I do find it interesting that they are all traveling and staying together. I wonder how my elder cousin justifies it? Even though she's not df'd she is very inactive and I thought that was taboo to associate with anyone that was inactive.

I found out that the four of them and my cousin's dad are going on a trip together to southern CA and Palm Springs. How can it be okay for an elder to be socializing with a deacon from another church? Isn't this grounds for disfellowshipping??
