Dear Princess, I think your Subject needs to be corrected: "I have been screwing a JW"...You need to get real girl and understand why he was interested in you. Sorry, but what do you expect? A real "sweet" guy who called you every name in the book, too. You have a lot of growing up to do; good luck in finding yourself...I mean that sincerely.

Hey, I'm in the same "class" as Farkel. Hmmm, am I proud of that one or ??? Anyway, I saw the New Christy Minstrels and PPMary many moons ago as well.
As a teen, our small town had concerts by the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars. They all came into town on a bus or two. We "teenyboppers" got to see and hear such as: Dusty Springfield; The Kinks; Gene Pitney; Bryan Hyland (Sealed with a Kiss!); Peter and Gordon; The Shirelle's...many more. Wow, does anyone even know who these people were? I feel old. We were about 14 years of age and used to run around their hotels getting pics and autographs. Those were the days of total innocence~
Others over the years: Beach Boys, Dolly Parton Garth Brooks; Brooks and Dunn; Faith Hill (during my c/w music days); The POINTER sisters when they were first getting started in California! ELVIS when I was about 9 mos. pregnant w. my firstborn (29 years old now)....uh, The Jacksons, during the same era ...when Michael was cute and innocent too!
You've stirred memories here, forgive me for going on: won tickets to Jefferson Starship. Recent years I've gotten into some Christian music and love Kathy Troccoli (twice) and Point of Grace.

Listen to the Posters here. Those beautiful innocent children should not be raised in a cult that will warp their minds. You must take charge of the situation. I am also a Catholic and would be glad to talk to you if you wish to write me at [email protected]

Help, my son misses the hall...
by termite 35 inhe really does.. we had a long chat tonight and he was really sad.we were never integrated into jw society,so it's not the people;he justsaid ...'want to belong to god's family'?
!i went through a few more points as to why the wtbs wer'nt the 'right' religion and asked him if he felt god was happy with people who lie.he re-accepted that and then said'so,how do you know where to go?i tried to explain it by asking him if he thought god looked at congregations or individuals and we got to the conclusion that it's probably individuals.... my point is, he wants to go to his teachers church, and i don't.my husband has never been interested in religion in any form and as the months go by,i feel less and less inclined to be involved in any religion.he has a strong christian theme at his school, but done nicely, so i know his desperation is,nt all 'my fault' but i feel guilty at making him so desperate to find the place he feels comfortable in.he's only 8 and an obsessed sports fan who has a very loving ,full life-but he's unhappy at night and i'm so worried it's my fault.i feel so depressed tonight and responsible for messing up his head with it all.the point is.... do i take him to his teachers church even though i have no desire to?how long would i have to go, feeling a hypocrite?.
what will it do to him if i don't try to help him practically with how he's feeling?.

Hi Termite, I've raised 3 kids; none of us ever JW, all belong to the same faith. I had the opportunity to be a leader in a Bible study this year for prospective members. Every one of them stated they grew up w/o any religion and always had a desire to "be like the other kids" who attended church. That was something I'd never heard anyone say. I'd never thought of kids feeling that way.
I agree w. others here that it certainly is not going to hurt him, esp. if you investigate it a bit and feel comfortable about it. And if I were in your position (I don't know his age)...I would bring him myself at least the first time.

Never been a JW. Would someone please tell me what kind of records are kept on a person? Are these on each and every member? What about non-baptized? I really need to know.
THANKS! -

I need help/info on other religions vs the WTS
by Leander inover the past week since i've announced that i was stepping down i have had a few conversations with my family, and against my better judgement i mentioned that i was having doubts.
invariably almost every discussion about the jw religion eventually boils down to the argument that only witnesses are doing this or that.
unfortunately this is a weak part of my debate, i have only been associated with the jw religion so i have very little information on what other religions beleive and practice.

Don't let them draw you into these parrotted arguments. Follow the wisdom of those on this board. The debates will continue as long as you let them. Take charge of yourself and just tell them you are not going to be misled. You don't NEED to give them specific reasons.
I would like to throw out some facts though. The JWs are the only ones who preach the ridiculous ban on blood. What does this tell you? They have also created their own Bible, much like the Mormons...what does that tell you? Can a Christian walk into a bookstore and pick up a NWT? If the "Good News" is to be spread, why is it NOT available to all? -

X-JWs Who are now bible Christians
by clash_city_rockers inhi folks,.
i'm just sort of taking role call to all those x-dubs who are now brothers and sisters in christ.
i think it is wise for us to rise up and be counted so that we know who each other are.

I believe that the Bible is an essential guide to Christian belief. However, I have a problem with Christian fundamentalists like some posting here who preach the ONLY way to salvation is through the Bible. I believe that Jesus 2 Great Commandments are clear: Love God, Love one Another.
I attend church regularly. I believe in the Trinity; however, it is not a definitive Bible teaching. It is there, it is obvious to Christians who look for it. But I do think that if Jesus / God wanted this to be a Required belief, it would have been very clearly stated.

LOVE those VETS! My dad, inlaws (both he and she) were WWII vets and I wish now I'd asked them more. Went to a 4th of July picnic last yr and the Air Force band played...great stuff! At the end they played the theme song for each division of the military and had those veterans stand...it was so moving, I still get goose bumps seeing those people standing proud--from old WWII vets to Korean to VietNam to Desert Storm.
THANKS for sharing. We need to never forget. -

Can you just picture Jesus showing up at a Memorial?!
"What the hell is going on here??!! You people really
think this is what I meant at that Supper?"...as he
grabs the emblems and passes them out :"I said, Take All and Eat!"
Thanks Met; wonderful post.
