yesterday i posted a letter i intend to write to the marysville newspaper (from a posting by nathan natas).

i was hoping to get some input from you all, and there is nothing thus far.

maybe it got buried early.. just asking for a bit of help; i don't do things like this often but feel compelled to write.

Just asking for a bit of help; I don't do things like this often but feel compelled to write. Never was a JW so, perhaps those of you who were/are could have a look and let me know your thoughts. (I've already caught some things I will be editing a bit).

Thanks, I love lurking on this board; you have all taught me so much and I ADMIRE the way you help each other out. You've sure helped me get into the JW mindset in order to understand family members/friends.

Hello! I was most interested in a recent article printed in your paper on the building of a "Kingdom Hall" by the people who call themselves "Jehovah's Witnesses." I have family members who belong to this organization, I do not call it a church. It is actually a publishing company, the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. May I quote from your story, Jesus is our leader and the head of our congregation. We are all brothers. We are all equal. Thats the way it is worldwide. Sadly, they do not actually look at Jesus as the leader like the rest of Christianity. They do not believe in the Deity of Jesus; that he is God the Son. They will not tell you this outright; however, but use misleading statements, such as that quote, to make it sound like they are "equal" with other Christians. Sadly, they also do not believe that "we are all equal". Oh yes, they do mean that Jehovah's Witnesses are all "equal". But they believe that those of us who believe different from them, and I mean traditional mainline Christians to Jews to whatever...they believe that we are NOT equal. They believe that they are the only ones who follow the Truth; but sadly, that Truth is the teachings of the Watchtower Tract Society (WTS). The WTS holds as one of its main teachings the abstaining from blood. They have totally distorted this scripture to the point that they will deny live-giving blood to their own precious children, family members. This is a fact. If I may use another quote, What town can you drive into and see such a beautiful golf course." Ask them if their children would be able to participate on the school's golf team. Be ready to hear something about "conscience", "Jehovah", etc. The children are not allowed to participate in competitive sports. No doubt their children will be home-schooled, as this seems to be the trend. Which may be better for the children than when I grew up and the JW children were ostracized, as they could not join in any school holiday parties, etc. etc. etc. Interesting that another article in your paper tells a beautiful story of a group of students who went to Mexico to build a house for the needy. In the name of Christ. You can be sure that no Jehovah's Witnesses kids will be signing up for such a mission....unless it is sponsored by their own WTS. They are discouraged from joining in with other religious groups, as are their parents. They would be reprimanded by their elders. This is fact. OH, I see also that "An open house for the public is planned in the future." I want to close by letting your public know that Jehovah's Witnesses would die before going to another church's open house, as they are taught that the rest of Christendom is ruled by Satan. This is another fact. I can give you quotes from their own Watchtower teachings if you need them. We are all God's people. The Jehovah's Witnesses, as individuals, are sadly misled by an organization of men that distorts Biblical teachings. It is time that the public is educated. Sincerely, AuntieJane

i went to a funeral in a church this past weekend.

the first time i have been in a church in 27 years, because of fear instilled by the wtbs.

this was a dear friend of mine, she was well liked, many, many people at the funeral.

Welcome! I love your name AND the subject you chose. I'm not/never been JW but sadly have family members in another state who are. My shock when at their own dad's (my brother's) funeral they stayed in the back of the church, protected by a glass wall...their own father's funeral! Thankfully, his 3 other children participated in the funeral service fully. It was a sad awakening to me to see first hand the control of the WTS cult.

I'm happy to know you are here and wish you well in your growth of REAL truth!

Did you Stifle Jesus??

just watching old archie bunker show and the thought occurs to me, something i've wondered about before.. how do jw's --who were brought up in other religions first--learn to accept the doctrine that lowers jesus to less than god?

did you stifle jesus ?

it would seem a difficult transition to make, at least from the "outside".. i know several here are now non-believers, and that's ok. but i would like to hear more answers from those who still believe.

Yeah, I guess it was, since those are the ones who replied! Would like to have heard from others on this one, but...oh well, I guess the breasts and the penis attachment posts beat this out this time 8+(

i was brought up in "the truth", i have the odd bible study now and again, funny enough the last time was a week after 9/11, as im still subconsciously in fear of armageddon, but i haven fundamental problems with some of their teaching, hence my joy at finding this site.

i also used to think armageddon was coming at the sight of the smallest storm.

has anybody found what they think is "the truth" since coming away?.

You sound like an intelligent guy and you have lots of great questions. Actually, they are probably questions we all have. I think Amazing's reply is worth another read. And another! The Truth is not out there, in an organization, but in your heart. God taught us that, through his son. When you find that mustard seed of faith, and it is there, I can tell by your post, nourish it slowly. Very slowly. Answers will come quickly, but won't make sense without faith in your heart.

Yes, the world is going to pot, but it has been since man inhabited it millions of years ago. Remember that...millions of years ago. With that history, I have faith that man will still be here that much longer.

You asked if there is a god who loves us, why are we living like this?? God loves us enough that he gave us choices to make. Right or wrong, they are OUR choices. I believe he saw to it that the Bible was created to guide us in those choices. I don't believe we are to understand it totally.

You mention a brother who has passed. My condolences. I have lost my brother as well. When things like that occur in our lives, we definitely struggle, and that struggle continues for a long time. But time and faith do heal. Slowly, but surely, if you hang on firmly.

Tink, When I first read your post I was sad for your circumstance but I wondered: you are a seemingly strong person, why not just meet them head on and ask outright Why do they treat you like they do? Ask them for specifics.

Serena thanks "Jehovah" after US Open...

serena williams, after winning the us open women's tennis championship tonight, thanked "jehovah" for blessing her family.

in the background were numerous us flags, and of course, prior to the match, the williams sisters were there and standing while various patriotic songs were played (oh, that's right....they were already standing since they had to walk out onto the court....guess that's okay).

while watching all that i could not help but think of all the jw youths who have been told that they could not particicpate in organized sports at school or otherwise.

Not having been a JW, I am amazed at the strange, stringent rules they follow. Did any of you have to quit competitive sports due to the org? If so, what sports and how old were you?

i have been reading posts here for several months, which has helped me to keep from going insane.

my doubts came when i finally got the nerve to leave a bad marriage, why did i stay so long.

because i was ashamed and really scared of what "jehovah" would think of me.

Dear Living, Welcome!! You will have so much support here. I never was a JW but am here to learn in order to deal with some family members.

I must say, and this is to all exJWs here: Reading your stories, experiences is so touching. If the rest of the world spent a little time here, I have no doubt this so-called religion would be exposed for all its sick and ungodly "truth". That's why I applaud the work of Silent Lambs; the more press coverage, the more the outside world will think twice about those smiling faces appearing on our doorsteps.

Here's to all of you for your sharing and caring, and especially to you Livingagain...you truly are doing just that :-)
