I never did either. I mostly saw and heard everyone giggle when raising their hands knowing what they did made know difference and was just a formality.

Remember when KH's had a piano and real singing?
by WingCommander inthe thread about got me thinking about my very early childhood, back when witnesses were allowed to be social and have get togethers.
they also had a piano in every congregation i ever attended, and an older sister would always play the kingdom melody.
there was actual singing - not mindless droning and humming.

I remember some of the older brothers and sisters who were not allowed to play the piano anymore were not to happy about it. This was just one more step toward corporate uniformity the society has taken which has taken the heart and soul out of the 'troof'. I also remember at the Janesville assembly hall in Wisconsin, there use to be whole live orchestras that would play made up of congregation members. Then of course they took away the ice cream sandwiches...I've never been the same since.

preached throughout the whole earth ???
by Ade inhow far has their preaching gone exactly, how much "earth" is left to cover, they keep claiming here in the uk that they haven't "invaded china yet" but i know differently.
if they have covered the earth how long has it been ??.
anyone who has a little of knowledge of this i would appreciate how many years they have been preaching worldwide "literally".

we will not in person reach all parts of the earth with the Kingdom message before Jesus "arrives" as Executioner.
That's not very nice...

Help me come up with some Elder comeback lines...
by jgnat infor the moment at least, my muse has been revived, and i'm wrapping up my book for "unbelieving mates".
i had started to compose a list of common jw excuses and manipulative questions, and their retorts.
it is not finished.

Aw Geez...yeah I remember Don Emshoff. He seemed to be a good soul from what I could tell. He, along with a C.O. I had when I was about 18 probably had a lot to do with my taking the "troof" seriously. They seemed like they were going to be the future of the Watchtower (more liberal and compassionate). Looks like that was way off. The C.O. I mention died of a heart attack while driving his car and now I see ole Emshoff has gotten the hatchet. Sad indeed....

Garrison Keller, a national treasure ...Anyone else think so?
by confusedjw ini just love that show.

<tonight it was a repeat>

Garrison Keiller is certainly a national treasure. He fills me with so much "homeiness". Remeinders of where I came from and who I would still like to be.

do you?
by purplebunnyfoofoo in.
believe that gods name is jehovah?
do you still use it as his name?

Jehovah is one name that perhaps COULD be used for the trancendent.A name used for the mask of "God". Do I use it as I did at one time though? No. It is one name that is used as many others are used and that is all.
