Loved it when Mr Jackson asked Angus if he had the scripture and Angus said, 'no I don't but I am sure you will read it to me Mr. Jackson'. -

It would seem that Mr. Jackson finds the bible's principles to be very contradictory which keeps the governing body from making regulations to follow that everyone finds to be common sense in this day and age. Therefore he is begging for a trump card to be laid by the government to make law what is common sense.
Being subject to the authorities is the trump card they need. Jehovah's spirit isn't leading in any progressive way at all. It will be the government representing the people who have to do the leading. Another case of the bible just getting in the way. Time to forget about it and start using common sense.
Makes you wonder how far this could be pushed and what other decisions could the government take out of the hands of the governing body.

I have been watching in awe the work of this commission. No doubt many here have been also. I am also quite envious to see Australia has something like this since I live in the United States. I'm sure I haven't missed it but is there an equivalent in the U.S. to this commission? Also, what is the likelihood we could see it here or is something similar being arranged already? -

So sorry to hear this. I talked with Marilyn at length on the phone when I was exiting the borg in 2004. She was very helpful and encouraging at the time. Lucky for me she turned out to live nearby in the Milwaukee area. When I was organizing our ex-JW meet ups in Milwaukee several years ago I invited her and her husband to join us. Had the pleasure of meeting her. Really enjoyed her and her husband. We knew many of the same people from the borg. This is a real loss to all ex-JW's but her work lives on. R.I.P. Marilyn and peace be to all your family....

Thanks for the advice. As usual on a JW discussion board about 8 different opinions and a fight breaks out. Hey, this conversation just happened earlier today so I wanted to express myself a little. The truth is only I know the situation and people involved. Only I know what has been said in the past. It would be impossible for me to ever give up on this situation, not in my genes. So I will take what good I can out of your posts and carry on. Take care and good night.

Hello, I haven't been on here in awhile and it looks like a whole new crowd. I Disassociated myself about 8 years ago. Went through a divorce and shunning from most my family. I fought a legal battle to keep good steady contact with my son. We have had lots of good times. I got re-married, have a one and a half year old daughter. Life is good and I have adjusted except...till now.
My son did get baptized somewhere in there. I decided today to ask him point blank his intentions after he turns 18. He informed me he wouldn't be coming to visit anymore. He said he respects my decision to leave the religion but in his view he will have to drastically limit his contact with me. He is not sure what he will do about his little half sister but that will have to be very limited also. He said this without much emotion although maybe some anger (mostly about not wanting to hear why I chose the path I did).
I have dreaded this day for a long time and now we have about 5 months left.

Annoying 2/15 WT - Don't Be Stumbled- your Mind Just Misunderstands !
by flipper inanother wt article which causes jw's to doubt their own perceptions of reality.
) in this particular article titled " for those loving jehovah, " there is no stumbling block " - the wt society stoops to new, or rather re-hashed lows to insinuate that most if not all jw's really misunderstand causes of stumbling as it's just their minds that are imperfect, messed up, or gone entirely anyway.
the first abhorrent bit of information here describes a witness man who " fought " with feelings of being homosexual and of course the elders thought they had the perfect antidote to keep him from his alleged " abnormal " desires.

Reading this reminds me of when I left 'the troof'. My Mom and ex-wife conspired to have me meet with a pschycologist because they feared I basically was going off my 'rocker'. Of course, to their dismay, the shrink confirmed I was totally normal.
Also, my ex-father-in-law told me, 'you just need to admit to yourself that you are not thinking correctly'.

All Time Jeff, your letter was quite good. Anyone who da's has my respect. I was reading some of your posts and I was reminded of something from awhile ago. I was visiting with my uncle who is on the branch comittee in Paraguay back when I was 18 years old. I was looking at pictures of his old gilead class with him and had him tell me about the people who were in his class. I remember one in particular who he said was no longer a jw. I found this curious at the time. He said well, 'this man simply became disillusioned'. It wasn't the only thing that made me question things but it was one of many. I wonder if maybe someone or many might wonder the same thing about you when looking at your' gilead pics. Let's hope so.

Hmmmm...lot different da letter from mine. I simply tore out a sheet of paper from a spiral notebook with pieces still hanging from it and wrote in pencil, ' please read at your next meeting that I no longer want to be known as a Jehovah's Witness.' signed-bavman
