Thank you Thank you Thank you! It is so much easier to pretend I went when I have funny anecdotes to tell. The info was sooo valuable.

More Adventures at the District Convention
by RunningMan ineven more adventures at the district convention
well, i have once again found myself at that extravaganza of masochism, the district convention.
this year, however, since my kids were still in school, i was able to skip out on the first day, and join in for only the last two days.

Kingdom Hall Destroyed By Fire
by Kenneson inthe denbigh, virginia kingdom hall was destroyed by an accidental fire begun by a member who was welding and soldering pipes in a bathroom.
the insulation ignited and although he tried to extinguish the blaze, he was unsuccessful.
3 congregations used the building; now they have nowhere to meet and will have to rebuild.. http://www.dailypress.com/news/local/dp-36592sy0jun30,0,4261948

Funny Experience, just wanted to share
by dorothy ini have long laughed about this so when i saw it, it was pretty funny.
maybe you had to be there.. i was on the city bus this morning, on my way to school.
(i'm in college) anyway, i saw a guy reading a watchtower and i was wondering if he was a real dubbie or had just picked up the magazine off the seat or something.

(I'm in college) Anyway, I saw a guy reading a Watchtower and I was wondering if he was a real dubbie or had just picked up the magazine off the seat or something. Then I looked up, he was wearing a baseball cap that said "City Wide Window Cleaning". It was funny. His shirt had a crest that said the same thing. The little things are so much more amusing since joining this board...

Many, many, many JWs don't care if what the organization is teaching is wrong. They just want to belong to the exclusive religious group, with members who love bomb them constantly.

SIlver Ring Thing in the UK - doomed to failure
by Abaddon ini've seen coverage of this band of celibates before.
they're one of the groups spearheading abstinance-based sex 'education' in the usa.. despite not one shred of proof that it works in reducing teen pregnancy or std infection rates, this is the flavour of the month under the bush administration.. in tv coverage i heard one of the councillers telling teenagers that condoms could not prevent the transmission of virus particles.
if the abstinance-based idea is such a good thing, i wonder why they have to misinform people?.

Very interesting. I can not understand why people persist in lying to try to convince others to do things their way. People inevitably learn reality and then your whole theory - even the parts that may be true - comes crashing down.
