Finally....Hello everyone

i've been a lurker for quite a while...had joined a couple of years ago and lost my password and finally today i got my new password to log back on the message board.

a little bit about myself: i'm a 39 year old black woman, married 12 years come december (to the same man .

i have just started to attend a church which i really enjoy and wonder upon wonders i did not melt upon crossing the threshold.

a jw friend of mine has long encouraged me to ask her any questions i have about dubbie-ism.

Anyway, lately I have been sending her questions that come up while reading everyone's posts here, and I guess there's been a couple of good ones because she's completely ignoring them now. It's not that I've sent a barrage of questions, just one or two every month or so. Last week I asked her "Would God really want us to give up our life in honour of a symbol of life?" (The blood issue) No response, not even an ackowledgment. I'm guess I'm gaining some ground.

No JW kids at school today

i was surprised to see only 1 jw kid in attendance at school.

Why Is Alcohol "Good" and Marijuana "Bad"?

up until a short time ago (a couple of years maybe), insufficient research had been done on either of these drugs to say what the long term effects were.

only recently has it come out that certain kinds of alcohol (red wine etc) can reduce blood pressure.. so, with this in mind (the fact that they could actually be as bad or harmless as each other), why the heck is marijuana illegal and alcohol fine?.

I own a copy of that book, it certainly is excellent. It was a great help when I first started wondering if there was something going on within the WTS. An excellent resource!

Did you have time for a hobby when you were in the Org?

most witnesses are too occupied to have a hobby.

with all the meetings and field service and work, there isn't much time left for a hobby.

and if you did find time for hobby, i'm sure the elders would have pressured you to use your spare time for the kingdom, not hobbies.. did you have a hobby while you were in the org, or did you develop one after leaving?
