each year on devil's night (oct. 30 for those who are unaware of it's title) and halloween, all of our area halls would gather a group of brothers, usually elders, and they'd take shifts in "guarding" the kingdumb hall, protecting jehovah's sacred place from evil youths bent on vandalising it.

i can't see anyone vandalizing it as a target, except x-jw's but x-jw's would do it anytime of year, they don't need an occasion.

well one year in my late teens, and on my way out, one of my friends had the brilliant idea to drive around to the local halls, and throw ziplock bag packets (like a water ballon) of egg yolk and whites (no shells because they hurt), flower and oil at the ones guarding the hall, not the hall itself.

To answer your question... yes, the Brothers? in every congregation I ever went to would set up guard duty for the night before Hallowe'en

I got counselling for my daughter!

update: the studying with my daughter is great.

i have also decided to set up some counselling for her.

i have free counselling through work, they set it up, find an appropriate counseller given the circumstances, etc.

Sorry for the way you were treated.

When I was a kid, and I was not good enough, I was told to be like Jr. Elder xxxx. He is now divorced and out of the truth!

Also we had multiple problems, we had this elder in which everything had to be perfect! His family! His Congo! his everything

Well after an altercation with me, and luckily I heard him say something awful about another elder "xy" he was soon removed!

He took his family to another congo, his son became Mr. perfect elder/building committee/everything else! He soon got a promotion

to MS again. Well you know what happened? His son after failing 3 girlfriends (JW's) and due to his father not thinking any were good

enough for his son........ Found Mrs. right and got married! You know what happened to his father? Due to the fact that he did not want

his son getting marrier to a sister that was not good enough for his son, he was restrained to the exterior of the cerimony and reception hall

during his son's wedding!

More experiences to come, there are too many!

Letter From Society Say Going To a JW/Non-JW Wedding Has Consequences!

my mother called me in a tizzy saying that her friend heard that letters were read and a talk was given in 2 different congregations saying that the society's new policy is that if a elder, m.s.

or pioneer attends an "unequaled" wedding----they will be removed from their exemplary positions because they are "disloyal to jehovah god"........what do you think about this one?

I am surprised to hear these stories of JWs attending non JW weddings. I do not question the truthfulness it's just that it is so incredibly different from the attitudes of the JWs I met. I have often heard of the large differnces in attitudes amongst JWs depending on geographic areas. Clearly some are far more fundamental (or radical) than others

This is 100% true!

Meet Jw's from Cali and NY and compare them to Jw's from Texas throughout the midwest! you WILL SEE NIGHT AND DAY DIFFRENCE!

I tell you that depending on the situation I have seen many diffrent things.

My sister studied with JW's for 1 year, and when she got married my mom was told by elderette "a" not to go! My mom, and family went anyway (just stayed in the rear of the church). No sanctions were done to us!

I recently attended a wedding (non JW) of my study that did not want to get baptized. Nobody said a whoot to me. I even at the grooms request (even though the ceremony was done by a priest) performed a prayer before dinner (I substituted God for Jehovah though). Nobody in the congregation had to know the details, and my wife seemed not to care
