In '99 (floyd) I was in a shelter for 1 1/2 days. All people there supported each other. The last thing on my mind was preaching.
When the waters got lower and I went back to my house, some brothers passed by and said their token "wow....."
NO ONE HELPED ME, except the red cross and the local christian church!!!!
i know many people who live down south louisiana , were raised to be on guard for hurricanes.
i thought i heard on cnn that 80% did evacuate out.
i can imagine trying to get the most valuable things in a car , get my money out of the bank, gas the car up, put water and food in case traffic is jammed, clothes , medicine, pets, contacting family..all of that would be exasperating if some of it was not ready to go.. every year we have tornadoes, flooding, but the ice storms are what we are afraid up my way nw louisiana.
Hey I survive Floyd in '99. They took me out of my house on a boat. Was left out of house for 2 months to fix & repair.
Nor the Watchtower, nor the local brothers helped/donated NOTHING!
The Red Cross and the local christian church helped with everything!
Ever since then I never donated a penny to my KH (even though I'm the accounts servant). And my only charities are the
Salvation Army and the Red Cross!

i was disfellowshipped and i posted about it here.. i wrote an appeal letter, and wrote about it here.
so, i just got home from a weeks vacation, i was home for 3 hours.
I recently asked my presiding overseer why the new announcement reguarding disfellowshipping (joe smo is no longer a Jehovar)?
He frankly said it's for lawsuit protection.

the october the 1st watchtower has interesting views on the education of jw children.. page 30, in which one jw explains how he ended up in ft service says:.
'we did not associate with our school mates but only with those in the congregation who had good spiritual habits.'.
interesting as this shows judgmentalism and criticism 'even' in the jw congregation.. then on page 31 it explains how parents must offer their children, as early as possible, proper guidance in their choice of school subjects and vocation goals.. 'rather than choose academic subjects that are geared toward a university education, parents and children need to consider courses that are useful in pursuing a theocratic career.'.
The Watchtower writes about what is wants (for their own ends/means) But the general dub
who si growing up just does what they want.
