WALKING IN THE PATH OF INCREASING LIGHT - WT STUDY
by Mary infor those of you not "keeping up with the organization"botchtower deals soley with all the bullshit instances of "increased light" on this joke of a religion god's organization.
it asks many drone-like thought-provoking questions as i've listed below.
incredible that these guys claim to be the sole ownership of what is absolute "truth", yet change doctrines like i change lipsticks.

Biblical beliefs that are similar to older pagan beliefs
by M.J. ini'd like to list some beliefs within judaism and christianity that bear a resemblance to older pagan beliefs.
the wts is deceptive when they selectively point out such parallels, but only with respect to beliefs they reject.. for example, the wts argues that the origin of the concept of the immortal soul is in egyptian and babylonian mythology, both of which espoused such a concept.
but they neglect to also point out that babylonians wrote flood accounts similar to the noah story before the writing of genesis, or that baptism was practiced in pagan religions before the birth of christ.

JW's use the word Amen.
I guess the WT did not do its research right. Or else they did not ban it for the sake of converts?

One of the things that always looked so pagan to me were the use of the Urim and Thummim.
They were some kind of stones or lots, used by the priests, when they want to make a choce. They would throw them, and whatever would come up would be the answer. Something quite similar like throwing a dice, or reading tarrot cards etc.Gotta love theBible.
How about the "bitter water"? To test fidelity?

CO Comments
by dothemath inthe circuit overseer in a neighboring circuit has been telling audiences in his visits to the congregations the following:.
the governing body feels that the massacre in rwanda happened because satan wanted to get at the witnesses in that country.. i agree that satanic influence could have been behind it..........but do you think the thousands of casualties were caused solely to affect the small minority of witnesses there?.
i suppose it's the same logic that ww1 + ww2 happened to get at the remnant of the 144,000. any comments on this?.

anyone here ever go on a cruise with a large group of JW's?
by PaNiCAtTaCk inive been on two cruises in the early 90's with large amounts of witnesses.
one cruise we had around 85 and the other 175. one night on the larger jw cruise there were 50 or so of us watching this comedian.
he started getting a little crude using words like penis so we all got up at the same time and walked out during his act.

Circuit Overseer Celebrities?
by Delboy222 ini am a active jw, but one question i would like to know is why do these 'men' get treated as superstar celebrities when they attend the congregation?.
for as long as i can remember, there seems to be a 'buzz of excitement' when it is announced that he and his wife are due to visit.
what is so special about them?.

CO gets there and the first thing he does is complain loudly from the podium about the kids. He berates the Moms, (most of whom are there alone, no Dads) for not picking them all up and taking them outside (in the rain and the cold, literally) at the first hint of noise. He reminds the women that "this is God's house" although I have no idea what he meant by that since Jesus seemed to like children.
I've had plenty of similiar problems
