tonight my sister told me our dad had mentioned that when you do not associate yourself with a disfellowshipped person, relative or not, you are honoring god and following the bible's guidlines.
i asked my sister if she knew where in the bible it states that.
she said she did not know, but knows that its in there, and knows that it relates something to that affect.
It's funny that your dad said "unless you are dying." If he really believes the JW crap he expounds then --- YOU ARE going to die ANY DAY AT ARMAGEDDON!!! I recently told that to my mom - I asked her how she would be treating me if I only had a few days to live - say from cancer. I think she would come see me on my death bed. So if they really believe that armageddon is just around the corner - then I suggest they hurry up and say their good-bye's to us now!
On another DF thread - someone posted something that meant a lot to me. It was a reference to 2Corinthians - where Paul talks about making people "overly sad" which led them to satan. It seems he was taking back what he said in 1Cor - to judge and DF people - something Jesus NEVER taught or practiced.
Ask your dad for 1 example of Jesus shunning anyone. Jesus NEVER did it. And tell him that for every scripture he can give you in favor of shunning - you will give him 5 or 10 in favor of love, mercy, forgiveness and grace.
i work for a fairly large organization - we have over 35 satelite offices spread out across the state.
there are jw's in some of these satelite offices that i deal with on a regular basis.
i have never had a problem with them because i view work as work, it is a professional environment and each individual is judged based on their work performance.
I agree with all of the above AND I would also say that you may be the ONLY person in her world who can point her in a healthy direction. Business is business - but being in a dangerous cult is another thing entirely. I think I would at least throw her a book or web site recommendation and then set professional boundaries.

my mother has been expressing to us how she reluctantly is beginning to see that the organization indeed has some problems.
she is starting to "feel" that things aren't right.
this past thursday, they gave a "marking" talk for my daughter who hasn't attended a meeting in years.

its been a while since i posted.. can anyone tell me if there are any threads on here about the bible code..... specifically a book entitled bible code written by michael drosnin.
i am "freaked" out about it and now more than ever am convinced that i am going to die at armageddon.
it predicts 2006 as the end.. both my sister and my mother are digruntled at me because of how i have been affected.
I just deciphered a code in the bible that says "sinomongirl will NOT die at armageddon - she will live a long happy life as an exjw."
satan said to jehovah "they only serve you, cos of what they can get out of you" or words to that effect.
this is only my opinion but what do you think?.
a few : i believe serve god cos they love him.. some: they want to see someone they love who has died again.
