Yes! Thanks Sunspot!
In other countries this does not apply.
How do they explain this??? Other countries don't need the preaching work to be "simplified?" Haha! Hypocrits.
an audit discovered that taxes were not paid on these purchases, so the state board of equalization informed the company that it must "register as a seller" and pay back taxes ($118,294.54, plus $65,043.55 in interest).
i just read that swaggart had to pay back taxes.
did the wts have to pay back taxes prior to their decision to "give" the literature?

my jw friend (the only one who does keep in touch) is really considering "fading".. the trouble is that she was raised a jw and is finding it all really difficult, plus her father is a prominent jw.. she mentioned to me the scripture (matthew?
) that says that the last days would have to be cut short for the sake of the holy ones.
she says they always taught that this referred to the anointed and that they'd all die off if jehovah didn't cut short the days of the time of the end.. she says that if they ever change thoughts on this doctrine she would immediately leave.
Good point running man. Glad to hear it!
jws say, "the apostates are miserable!!
".....do you feel miserable?
(i don't).
SOOOO much happier!!! I wasn't at first - for a while I was miserable, alone and scared. Just as they would have it. But no more! I have a great life!
My mom is a happy JW martyr. If you took away her misery she would cease to be happy.
hey guys.. i know, it's a little early for this...but i started thinking about it last night and couldn't get past it.. i'm in the process of moving and last night i was packing up some books.
lo and behold...i come across a copy of the new world translation.
should i pack it?
Richie - Thanks for the link to that AWESOME post!!! I just wish I could get my printer to work!
BTY - what is the answer to the question regarding who translated the NWT and why they keep it a secret?

I think - just my opinion - you are chasing your tail with this question. If she hasn't seen enough already (1975, 1995, milawi/mexico, blinking lights, Swaggart tax evasion, UN membership, etc, etc.) I doubt if "one more thing will do it for her either." It's like a parent that lets the kid get away with murder and just keeps saying "If you do that one more time...." I dunno. But we know one thing for sure - if she sticks around long enough they will be forced to address it.
i went to the y last night just to relax and go swimming.
the y near my house is pretty clean and after 8 p.m., not very crowded.
i find it very relaxing to go work out, play basketball, go swimming and then sit in the sauna after a long shower.
I have a membership here!! I'm sure that's forbidden cautioned about in the Watchtower. You are right -- it's great to be free!! Thanks for reminding me!
Gang rape in the men's shower if probably your most immediate concern.
dolphman - you're kidding right?? Are you a homophobe? Do you think gay men are also rapists? Do you think you are that desireable? (I'm sure you are - but gang rape, c'mon - even queers have some impulse control!)
BTTT

I just read that Swaggart had to pay back taxes. Did the WTS have to pay back taxes prior to their decision to "give" the literature? If not, why didn't they have to pay too?
Also - does anyone have the WT article handy where they lie about their reasons for the new policy? I'd like to print it.
Thanks
well.....all you apostate bastards can relax now.........armageddons way the hell off!
according to the below article.....jehovahs somehow going to get in a good witness about him and his organisation to all the muslims, and buddists, and all the eastern religions, and all the banned countries.....before armageddon can come.
that's right.. if he can't get his dubs to do it door to door......he's going to perform some miracle finally, and get ye ol' watchtower and awake articles in their hands.
I didn't know 21 was the magic flame number.
You are right Gumby - this says that Jehovah will be satisfied to have his armageddon even though everyone wasn't warned. Loving. So why bother with missionary work?Nevertheless, the Bible does not state that Jehovah will wait until every individual on earth has received a personal witness. Rather, the good news must be preached to Jehovah?s satisfaction. Then the end will come
Why can't I turn off the highlighter? I didn't even turn it on.
the testimony of youths may be considered; it is up to .
the elders to determine if the testimony has the ring of .
truth.
Daniel Fitzwater was released from prison at the end of May. He remains a JW in good standing. You can find his name on the Nevada sex abuse registry.Another point to this story is that we know that 17 victims came forward at least to the elders. I wonder, over the past 20 + years how many never said a word. ???
Oh god - that's a horrible, horrible story. There's another active thread about a guy who just got DF'ed for having "doubts" about the UN scandle. I'm sure many of us were DF'ed for lesser "crimes." That's just horrible and I can only imagine that he was welcomed back to the cong with open arms. But my mom won't eat a meal with me. I'm sick. I wonder if JW's who have kids will at least be careful around him. Probably not.
i left the borg in about 1979 of my own accord after having my eyes opened (and experiencing) the hypocrisies around me.. in 1982 i sucessfully left my jw husband, who devloped alcoholism, and became a wife-beater when he could no longer control me.
the elders in the congregation (i married into) told me i was to subject myself to my husband, and his justice.. beginning in 1987, i realized my own drinking problem was alcoholism, and i successfully got clean and sober in 1990.. attending that first meeting, on a summer sunday evening in 1987 was shear hell for me.
it was in the basement of a baptist church!
Hi Brenda
We have a lot in common. I was DF'ed 18 years ago when I was 18. I was already drinking and drugging a lot and it only got worse after I was let loose from the Borg by being DF'ed. When I was 25 I decided that some of my misery in life might be related to or exacerbated by my drinking. I went to AA in '93 and have been sober ever since. My life has also been getting progressively better ever since. I remember also feeling strange being the only one who didn't know the words to the Lords Prayer. I also remember telling my therapist that I didn't like the feeling of being brainwashed - I was trying to get away from that. He said my brain might need to be washed - funny because the JW's would say the same thing to a new recruit. I eventually accepted it because I actually found real freedom through AA. It is also what helped me find my spirituality and get over the abusive religiosity of my past.
Congrats to you on being sober and welcome to JWD!
I have also read Fr. Leo Booths books on religious addiction....great resources!!
