<<John a Brown started this nonsence with his end of the gentile times chart, so why isn't he included in god like status of Rutherford and Russell?>>
Anyone who exalts Russell to the status of "god" is in self-contradiction, since Russell preached against such.

Charlest Taze Russell, who was never a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, did not claim to reveal "the way to salvation in this time of the end"; he did claim to that what man has traditionally presented as the basis of salvation is not what is taught in the Bible. This does not mean that he was saying that those whom he believed to have taught error were not saved through Christ. While Russell was surely not without error, nor did ever claim that his writings were infallible, he simply pointed out what Bible says and/or does not say regarding salvation, to the best of his knowledge.
See Russell's series of studies regarding the atonement:

The Watch Tower leadership today often refers to Russell was preaching "the truth"; I believe he did. However, if what Russell preached was the truth, then what the WTS today preaches is not the truth, since the message Russell preached is almost the opposite what the JWs preach today.Russell, however, disclaimed any divine authority over other Christians; he was a non-sectarian who did not believe in an organization such as Rutherford created after Russell died.

Questions from Readers ... In light of the new understanding of the Faithful and Discreet Slave, is it appropriate to refer to C.T. Russell as Brother Russell?
by mindnumbed inin light of the new understanding of the faithful and discreet slave, is it appropriate to refer to c.t.
russell as brother russell?.
in the past, some well meaning ones took it upon themselves to refer to c.t.

Russell did not believe in "the occult" and he condemned practices related to "the occult".
http://ctr.rlbible.com/?page_id=3066
However, if what Russell taught is the truth, then what the WTS today is teaching is not the truth. The WTS no longer teaches the "good news of great joy that will be for all the people" that Russell preached. In effect, they now preach a message that is "bad tidings of great woe for most of the people that they and their children will be eternally destroyed in Armageddon". Their message is almost the opposite of what Russell taught. -

Charles Taze Russell
by thedog1 ini think i read somewhere, here or maybe on another forum, that somebody claimed that c.t.
russell stood on the brooklyn bridge with some others, all in white robes, in 1878, waiting for the rapture.
any truth in that?.

Sturgeon, who admitted that he was having dificulty understanding what Russell said, claimed that Russell asked for a Toga; if Russell did ask for a Toga, even in the context of Sturgeon's report, it appears that what he was asking for was two sheet penned together over his shoulders by which he could keep himself warm. At any rate, I believe the Toga incident has been given more meaning that Russell ever intended.

As far as the winged symbol in the Stanley Theater, as best as I can tell from the pictures provided, it is not the same as the "sun of righteousness" symbol that Russell used.

Regardless, there is no evidence at all that Russell was a member of the Freemasons (except what has to imagined and assumed) and there are tens of thousands of pages of Russell's works that overwhelmingly prove that he was not in agreement with the goals of the Freemasons or the Knights Templar. Indeed, his belief that the trinity doctrine is man-made and denies the ransom sacrifice would exclude him from being a member of the Knghts Templar, for belief in the trinity is required to be a member of the Knights Templar. Russell, however, seemed to confuse the Masons and the Knights Templar as being one and the same, which would mean, from his mistaken view, that he would assume that all Masons professed to be Christian, and as he did with Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, and members of many other denominations, he referred to them as "brethren". This does not mean that he agree with such organizations, but it did conform with his view that true Christians may be found amongst all the various professed Christian denominations and organizations.

*lost* stated:
Yes, I have read it before. Aside from the blankets.
he requested a Roman 'toga' be made for him.
he looked like he was clothed in a shroud as he died.
All I can say is that it is claimed that Sturgeon reported that Russell asked for a Roman toga. He may have, I don't know; the point is that any kind of religious signficance concerning such would have to be assumed and read into the request. The alleged "Roman toga" that Russell is alleged to have asked for consisted of two sheets, one in front, one in back, attached to each other over his shoulders. This just sounds to me that Russell was simply trying to find someway to warm himself more comfortably than the former methods tried.

If Jesus is Michael, then why would he be afraid of Satan?
by Pronger1 injude 1:9 shows that michael didn't dare rebuke satan.
if jesus is michael, then why would he be afraid to do so?
in matthew and mark it clearly shows that the demons were afraid of jesus..

I am not with the JWs, but the belief that Jesus is Michael is not of itself a WT doctrine. Practically all of the Protestant reformers believed that Jesus is Michael.
I have present most of the reasons that I believe Jesus is Michael on my website.

There is nothing in the Bible that says that Michael was afraid of Satan.
But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, disputed about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a reviling [Greek, Blasphemia, blasphemy] judgment [Greek, krisis] upon him, but said, “[Yahweh] rebuke you.” — Revised Standard Version.
But Michael, the archangel, when contending with the devil and arguing about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him an abusive condemnation, but said, “May [Yahweh] rebuke you!” — World English Bible translation
But Michael the archangel, when contending with the Devil, he argued about the body of Moses; he dared not bring a judgment of blasphemy, but said, “Let [Yahweh] rebuke you!” — Literal Translation of the Bible, Jay Green.
