I will add to what has already been said:
I am not with the JWs; I am associated with the Bible Students.
The photo was definitely taken in 1910, not 1914. This picture appears in the September 1, 1910 issue of the Watch Tower magazine. The photo has nothing at all to do with any alleged rapture at any time. Russell did not believe in what is generally referred to as "the rapture".
Indeed, on October 2, 1914, Russell was in Brooklyn, where he gave his famous announcement at the Bethel breakfast table that the Gentile Times had ended. As someone pointed out, if the picture had been taken in Palestine on October 1 (as some have claimed) of 1914, in those days, it would have been impossible for Russell to be in Brooklyn the next day.

Can YOU identify this photo (1914 Rapture?)
by AlphaOmega ini need help identifying the source of this photo, which purports to show the watchtower crowd going up to the top of the mount of olives in 1914 awaiting the rapture.. .
i would like to show this photo to several jws along with the article in the october 8 1968 awake, which says.... true, there have been those in times past who predicted an end to the world, even announcing a specific date.
some have gathered groups of people with them and fled to the hills or withdrawn into their houses waiting for the end.yet nothing happened.

Russell; an unoticed freemason ?
by chasson inrussell an unnoticed freemason ?.
according to the partisans of russell's membership of the freemasonry, the russells, father and son, would have been particularly important masons, proves by the fact that russell would have build an masonic organization to realize the claimed purpose of the the freemasonry: a plot to destroy christianity.. .
obviously in support of their thesis, these partisans do not bring any masonic document proving the membership of the father and the son to the masonry.

We have tens of thousands of pages of Russell's works that overwhelmingly prove that Russell was not in harmony with the goals of the Freemasons. On the other hand, no proof (except for what is imagined and/or assumed) at that he was a Mason.

Russell and Jehovah's Name

Charles Taze Russell didn't use the Holy Name consistently, which I believe that he should have. However, his use or lack of consistent usage of the Holy Name had nothing at all to to with the his belief that the central doctrine for man found in the Bible is the ransom for all. The JWs, BTW, have rejected Russell's teachings on the ransom for all and have replaced it with the teaching of great woe that will be for most of the people that they (and their children) may eternally destroyed in Armageddon if they do not come into the their alleged "Jehovah's organization". In other words, they are teaching almost the very opposite of the good news of great joy that will be for all the people that Brother Russell considered to be the central doctrine for man. Scripturally, however, all doctrine has to be in harmony with the basis of atonement through Jesus as given in the Bible, which makes that doctrine the central doctrine by which to test all doctrine, and this is what Russell believed.
I believe that what Russell taught did much more for upholding God's name -- his character as represented in His name -- than do the JWs.

Anyone who exalts Russell to the status of "god" is in self-contradiction, since Russell preached against such. -

<<Charles Taze Russell was chosen by God Jehovah to reveal to mankind the way to salvation in this time of the end.>>
Charlest Taze Russell, who was never a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, did not claim to reveal "the way to salvation in this time of the end"; he did claim to that what man has traditionally presented as the basis of salvation is not what is taught in the Bible. This does not mean that he was saying that those whom he believed to have taught error were not saved through Christ. While Russell was surely not without error, nor did ever claim that his writings were infallible, he simply pointed out what Bible says and/or does not say regarding salvation, to the best of his knowledge.
See Russell's series of studies regarding the atonement:

The Watch Tower leadership today often refers to Russell was preaching "the truth"; I believe he did. However, if what Russell preached was the truth, then what the WTS today preaches is not the truth, since the message Russell preached is almost the opposite what the JWs preach today.Russell, however, disclaimed any divine authority over other Christians; he was a non-sectarian who did not believe in an organization such as Rutherford created after Russell died.

Questions from Readers ... In light of the new understanding of the Faithful and Discreet Slave, is it appropriate to refer to C.T. Russell as Brother Russell?

russell as brother russell?.
in the past, some well meaning ones took it upon themselves to refer to c.t.

Russell did not believe in "the occult" and he condemned practices related to "the occult".
http://ctr.rlbible.com/?page_id=3066
However, if what Russell taught is the truth, then what the WTS today is teaching is not the truth. The WTS no longer teaches the "good news of great joy that will be for all the people" that Russell preached. In effect, they now preach a message that is "bad tidings of great woe for most of the people that they and their children will be eternally destroyed in Armageddon". Their message is almost the opposite of what Russell taught. -

Charles Taze Russell
by thedog1 ini think i read somewhere, here or maybe on another forum, that somebody claimed that c.t.
russell stood on the brooklyn bridge with some others, all in white robes, in 1878, waiting for the rapture.
any truth in that?.

Sturgeon, who admitted that he was having dificulty understanding what Russell said, claimed that Russell asked for a Toga; if Russell did ask for a Toga, even in the context of Sturgeon's report, it appears that what he was asking for was two sheet penned together over his shoulders by which he could keep himself warm. At any rate, I believe the Toga incident has been given more meaning that Russell ever intended.

As far as the winged symbol in the Stanley Theater, as best as I can tell from the pictures provided, it is not the same as the "sun of righteousness" symbol that Russell used.
