thanks to avoidjw.org for scanning all of the magazines in pdf format, since there is a lot lost with the wt library.. take a look at the following paragraphs in the awake´s back cover throughout the years:awake!
Steve, they also removed the blurb from 1987 to 1988... I think that they use the new formatting (in 1987, 4-color printing was introduced, in 2013 they changed formatting too) to remove that.
But it's amazing how the changes went. Like Paul said, wonder how many meetings went on just to change "importantly" to "important".
