"Generation of 1914" Countdown Timer
by ILoveTTATT2 inso proud of this counter that i made!.
very simple yet shows the estimated amount of people that are living that are from the generation of 1914, defined as "all the people who were alive, even just barely being born, when ww1 started".. here's what i assumed:.
10% of the 1.7 billion people alive in 1914 were infants, just children.

DoC, you are totally correct.
The goal here is to visualize when exactly their definitions of their own prophecies fail.
Generation Definition 1: All over 15 when WWI started: FAILED
Generation Definition 2: All over 10 when WWI started: Only 6 people left, will fail circa 2020.
Generation Definition 3: All alive when WWI started: the purpose of this counter, to visualize this.
I have now made another counter for the 1925 definition: MILLIONS (has to be over 2 million) now living will never die.
Similar assumptions: 10% of the world population were babies born in 1925, i.e. 197 million babies, then 5% of people make it to be 90, then 1% of people make it to be 100... do the math... and...

No, "millions now living will never die" meant the entire worldwide population. It was only later that they said it was only the JW population.
Note what jwfacts says about it:Who Were the Millions?
Russell had proposed that Watchtower followers were to go to heaven, whilst most of the remainder of humanity would survive Armageddon to be educated personally by Jesus in paradise earth.
"He takes mankind as he finds them, and during the Millennial age will deal with each individual of the world according to his own particular condition, having mercy upon the weak and requiring more of the stronger, …" Studies in the Scriptures - The New Creation p.114
Rutherford continued to promote this teaching. In the New System, freed from the influence of Satan, Jesus would directly teach all people and give them the opportunity to choose if they wished to live forever serving him. Salvation was not contingent on becoming a Watchtower follower, or even a believer in Jesus. In fact, the churches were criticised for teaching that their members exclusively would be saved.
....
More often though, the Watchtower misleadingly indicates that the teaching of "millions now living" was overoptimism, as if the teaching back then coincided with the current doctrine that only Jehovah's Witnesses would be saved onto earth as part of the Great Crowd.
So this same exercise CAN be applied to the "millions" campaign. In fact, I think I should edit the site and make a second counter based on this!! -

They really "jumped the gun" with this 1914 definition! They could easily have kept the pre-1995 definition (those born in 1914) until now! In fact, that definition still gives them around 15-20 more years, and we are in 2018!!
But they lacked so much faith in their own false prophecy that they changed it in 1995 or 1996, when there were still millions of them left!! -

Hi Steve,
So, the more pertinent and telling question is - by JWs own past reckoning - how many people who were ages 13 to 16 at the time the War broke out are still alive?
None. Absolutely none. There are three periods that the "generation" teaching mentioned:
15 or above at the time WWI started. - None left10 or above at the time WWI started - 6 left
Had been born when WWI started - look at the counter to see an estimate of how many are left.

Here's what I assumed:
10% of the 1.7 billion people alive in 1914 were infants, just children. This means that we start with 170 million babies born in 1914. This is a fairly high number but let's give the witnesses a wide margin.
1% of those 170 million made it to January 1st, 2014, that is 1.7 million people.
People after 100 die at 50% rates per year... so that by January 1st, 2015, there would have been 800 thousand or so.
As of right now, it is at 56,817.
I leave you the link. It updates automatically. You have to wait for like a minute or two for it to go down.

157: Being induced to commit suicide by setting the room you are in on fire.
(1 Kings 16:18, 19) 18 And it came about that as soon as Zimʹri saw that the city had been captured, he then came into the dwelling tower of the king’s house and burned the king’s house over himself with fire, so that he died, 19 for the sins of his with which he had sinned by doing what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah by walking in the way of Jer·o·boʹam and in his sin which he did by causing Israel to sin. -

For those who are athest, or non-christian, how did you come to this decision?
by Tameria2001 ini'm not asking this question to cause an argument or accuse, but i am honestly just wondering?
for those of you who are now atheist or non-christian, how did you come to this decision?
i hadn't given this much thought until about a year ago.

I came to that conclusion after knowing the two following things:
1) The Bible is false.
2) Evolution is true.
To know that the Bible is false, you can read things like http://www.1001biblecontradictions.com/ or https://skepticsannotatedbible.com/
To know that Evolution is true, I would strongly recommend Cofty´s series of posts on it, they are brilliant, and also reading this book: https://www.amazon.com/Why-Evolution-True-Jerry-Coyne/dp/0143116649
Once you combine those two things, we are left with a tiny gap: Maybe there was a Creator that formed the first life, and then allowed it to evolve? But that gap is so tiny that it can easily be bridged and you can go ahead and just become atheist.
Because there are so many amazing things that are true and that are very complex that, once the first life started, came about via evolution and natural selection... so if all that can come from natural processes, then it is highly likely that the very first life also came from natural processes.
