  Why are JWs scared of death?

  i have been thinking a lot lately about death.

  this is not surprising considering the turn of events on the 11th.. i have been re-awakened to the transient nature of human life and how it can go in the blink of an eye.

  as the bible says life is vanity and a striving for the wind.. with all of the talk about world war 3 and how dangerous this world has become, i have been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster this past week.. the fear of dying is a normal and basic emotion.

  I for one, do not hate JWs. Believe it or not, I have great respect for many of them as people, friends, and relatives.

  Regardless, the original poster posed an interesting question, and others expressed their honest opinions in response to that question. Many of these responses are driven by years of association with JWs, and therefore offer value in their perspective.

  Many posters here do have an agenda. And so do you - as evidenced by your tone. In addition, only a person acting foolishly would take another individual's opinion as fact without examining it for themselves to see whether it is indeed simply propaganda. Your post is worthless.

  Expressing an opinion or sharing an experience DOES NOT equal propaganda.

  i have been thinking a lot lately about death.

  Don't forget the fear too of being resurrected and not being able to marry - a teaching most current JWs will usually admit they have a hard time coming to grips with, though literature from the society leaves very little to question regarding the official doctrine.

  Have WTS officials read CoC and/or other material?

  For me, it's somewhat hard to believe, but at the same time, the points made here are well taken.

  What changes in doctrine (if any) do you think have come as a direct or indirect result of Ray's and other's books?

  I won't pretend to know any individuals on the GB well as I do not. However, I've been acquaintances with one member and find it difficult to believe that at least some wouldn't be moved to question, just as we have, WT dotrine. Maybe they are just to caught up in the machine. Maybe they choose to ignore it, suppress doubts and fears.

  What do you think will happen as some of the older members pass away and the non-anointed are forced to step in?

  Judging by many recent articles and talks and the DC this year, it doesn't appear that much change is on the horizon, at least to me. Although things can and do often happen overnight, so I guess time will tell...

  Monogamy

  i'm fairly new to the board, so i apologize in advance if this subject has previously been beaten to death.. what do you think about historical individuals in bible history and the their (in some cases) excessively non-monogamous marriages?

  some of these individuals continued to be favorable in god's eyes, such as abraham.

  david and solomon also practiced polygamy.. according to wts belief, god "allowed" this to take place either for political reasons or for the propogation of the human race.

  oh ... sitting there ... waiting for the interminable end of the dreary and elongated rambling of someone with no public speaking skills at all ... please end ... anything to break this monotony is welcome ... even singing about 'christian youths' would be more welcome ... music pllllllease ... ahah 'now brothers, we will move into the service meeting with song number 47' ... and out blares ... guns'n'roses 'black leather' .... what cd would you like to sneak in there huh ?

  How about the ominous classic "Witch Hunt" by Rush? Although not directly relating to religion, the lyrics strangely enough remind of an elder body forming a judicial committee and JW mentality in general:
