  jonathan beatty, who was killed in iraq on thursday by hostile fire.

  the article mentions that "he was raised in a household of jehovah's witnesses, whose religion strongly teaches against war and fighting.

  i seem to remember back in my jw days, a scripture that said something to the effect that if you publicly denounce jehover, you would never be forgiven of it?

  i really want to bring this up to my ever-persistant family as a good reason for me not to come back to meetings and try to be reinstated.

  i have already told them that i will never, ever, ever come back, that i don't even believe in god per-se.

  Big News on Shroud of Turin

  yes, in 1988, jws were so happy to learn that carbon dating proved the shroud of turin was a fake from the middle ages ... yes, once again, jehovah's alleged organization was forward moving in its truth ... ahhhh ... but wait!

  it turns out, that while the carbon dating was accurate, it was not understood that the 1988 test inadvertantly used a repair patch from the 1300's.

  so, yes, the carbon dating would show this date.

  It's crap... It was not done on a repair this is a gasp for life that simply isn't there... Not only that but a little simple LOGIC tells you that this is fake! If Jesus was a long hair hippie boy don't you think that would have been mentioned by the priest and scribes? Do you think that it would say what it does about long hair in 1 Cor 11:14 if Jesus had long hair?

  The image on the shroud of turin is a picture that is the image of Jesus that was popular around 1300 AD... which coincidently is about when the shroud showed up! At the time is was considered a fake because over 40 such shrouds were floating around. It's only now that "enlightened" people started to fall for it... Funny to me that this item showed up just as soon as there was a market for it... Where was it for the 1300 years BEFORE that! If it was that important don't you think the first century christians would have used it? It's really idiotic!!!!

  I think they should cut a piece right out of the forehead of the image to carbon date that would shut people up!!!!!

  Change in application to Luke 21:28?

  luke 21:28 tells us that christians living during the time of the fulfillment of the prophecies showing that the end of this system was near were to hold their heads erect as their deliverance was near.

  or at least this is the way the wts has always explained this scriptural passage.

  last night, our visiting co mentioned in that this is no longer the way we interpret this scripture and that our past understanding was incorrect.

  You should have stood up and just started shrieking and clawing at your face then run out the door... Then hide in the bushes so they can't find you... Wait about 10 minutes and walk back to your seat like nothing happened and just completly deny everything... no no I just walked to the bathroom... must have been an evil doppleganger...

  It always bugged me that one devoted a morning to it and had only one hour to put on the report. A big waste of time, in more ways than one

  I always started my time when I got out of bed... If it's saterday morning and I'm out of bed SOMEBODY is getting billed for the time damnit! I would stop my time when I took off my meeting clothes... If I went to the mall after service and didnt' get out of my meeting clothes until 8:00 well then I got 12 hrs in service in one day baby! I could beat the National average in one long day... (actual service time maybe 2 hrs)
