No the modern one is lightyears better "the duke" who couldnt' act his way out of a paper bag was never able to debase himself to the extent that jeff bridges manages without even trying. The remake is much MUCH better than the original.

Bill is the best of a bad lot, not that it's much of a compliment like saying you're the smartest kid with downs syndrome. Not exactly a compliment. Now Bill is very smart, hell all of those talking heads on both sides are smart thats how they stay on top. The dumb people never GET to that point. It's all fluff and feel good nonsense. That is why they have to use technology to attempt to find things the actual PEOPLE are idiots. There is a reporter who does this stuff all the time I don't know his blog but I have read it before all the crazy stuff he does and has no problems. He used two part epoxy to make a friggin' Rambo knife in the bathroom on the far side of the security check point in the last post he made I read. He just had a mold came through security with it then mixed the epoxy and MADE a knife in the bathroom sharpened it and everything then got on the plane with it. And it wasn't like a jack knife it was like some sort of giant Rambo/ninja thing. Hilarious, feel good idiot nonsense is all TSA is.

The REAL problem is this: If every JW took this type of thing to heart, quit their lousy jobs (or good ones) and became Pioneers, the Organization would have no money!!!
So why do they do this sh*t? It's because they want to make people at least feel guilty so as to "do more" in other ways and be enslaved to the Organization and its ideals.
This is clearly made up, no sane person would do this and/or even REALLY believe this stupid story. However the lunatic fringe of the witnesses LOVES this type of nonsense. So sister crazy who is more than likely going to be fired from her job anyway for being an insane fanatic who won't shut up about jehogie and witnessing at customers, well she quits HER job and yeah maybe she does manage to find another job I mean yes most people eventually DO find another job of some sort SHE becomes a huge cheerleader for the witness belief system. By telling these stories they are talking directly to the crazy people in the borg, these stories go in one ear and out the other of your average person but they fester in the minds of the insane.
You have to look at who the target audience is for this type of thing and WHY they are saying what they are saying.

I got out of being df'ed by denying I was ever baptized. I did it as a laugh but you know what, it worked, it pissed them OFF too which was a plus!
I mean they were FURIOUS calling everyone in the world trying to get two witnesses that I was baptized, but if you didn't get baptized locally it's hard to really prove. I mean you didn't sign anything when you got dipped! Plus who really remembers after 10 or 15 years?
