owned 50% by The Watchtower Society, a religious organization, 34% by James
McCann and the balance by several other shareholders. Mr. McCann has indicated
that he donated the shares held by The Watchtower Society to that organization
but has retained a voting proxy for those shares. Accordingly, the beneficial
ownership of the 5,367,900 shares registered in the name of Rand Energy Group
Inc. can be attributed to The Watchtower Society and Mr. McCann.

The UN Affiliation: Likely Denouement?

ive found the un affiliation threads very interesting, but ive also expressed the view that this issue will have virtually no effect on jw membership.

i have at least two reasons for believing this.. first, after reading w. j. schnells 1957 book, thirty years a watchtower slave, in which the author describes how the watchtower used negative publicity to increase membership, im now of the opinion that continued commentary on this matter may only serve to foster an even greater conviction on the part of rank and file jws that they are being persecuted, and they will increase their efforts to recruit members; this will offset what i think will be a miniscule number of defections by those who will feel betrayed because of the un affiliation.

the reason why i think there will be few defections is described below.. second, i believe that the watchtower can easily defend itself.

When I read some of your posts here I get the eery feeling that some of you don't want Franz to come out with more details. I ask, why?
Are some of you still affiliated with the WT? Is someone trying to shut him up? Some of you give me the feeling that there is more hidden than some of you want revealed. How can more info on what's been going on at the WT be hurtful to our case? It can only be hurtful to the WT. Which ones of you are protecting the WT? Is there anybody posting here a member of the GB, or maybe an informer? Then you're violating your own rules. But then, are we used to anything else?
