I love my name, it's unique. But I've always been called by my nickname, which sounds kind of like an air-heady name to me.

I'm so cool, I'm doing mikes!!
by micheal in.
did you ever notice how some guys ( because only males are allowed to do anything ) thought they were so cool just because they did mikes or were behind the magazine counter.
why did they feel this way and what else can you think of that in reality was kinda stupid but to these guys felt really important and special to do?

I was always jealous of the boys who got to the mikes. As a girl, I felt cheated cause I had to sit in my seat and pay attention! I don't know why the felt so high and mighty, but i do have a funny story. You know how the mike guys always stand in the back during the paragraph reading? My friend thought the turned the mikes off during that time, so as a joke he farted into the microphone. The whole cong heard it! It was hilarious and he wasn't allowed to do mikes for a long time!

I have two boston terriers, so I guess you could say I'm partial to 'em. The poor babies were "fixed" today. My boy, Bubba, is getting around really well, but my little girl, Gemini, is having a hard time! I work at a vet, the best job in the world, cause I get to play with dogs all day.

I voted for the first time last year. I am very concerned about what's going on in our country and feel it's important to vote. It did feel weird at first though.

I, too, was the good, innocent 18 year old pioneer witness girl. The guy I was head over heels for spent all his time with me but wanted to go to Bethel, so he didn't want to have a girlfriend. Finally, I got the courage up to tell him I loved him when we had been out with other kids that night. We conveniently lived on the same street, so I was following him as we driving home. He pulled into a TJ Maxx parking lot and I followed. After a lot of hemming and hawing, we finally kissed. It's true what they say about fireworks!! The sparks flew. That boy never did get to Bethel, but he's been married to me for 7 years!!

Do you talk baby talk to your pets?
by Maverick ini had this big macho guy who used to work for me and when i would stop by his trailer, (not kidding) to pick him up for work, (dui and again, not kidding) on his way out the door he would give his redhead, stripper girl friend, (see above) a peck on the cheek and walk over to his pit-bull, ( ) and just lavish all manner of love and affection on that big, ugly, and very stupid dog!
i am not making this up!
i would think, "what a looser!".

Were you illegally disfellowshipped?
by hubert inbased on "official" bible based doctrine, were you "illegally disfellowshipped?
i have been reading many threads on disfellowsipping, and it makes me wonder if there were many who were disassociated, or thrown out of the org.
for reasons other than what the watchtower officially teaches?

I don't know that I was 'illegally disfellowshiped" but the reason for being df'ed was pretty weak. I became inactive and went a little crazy doing drugs and drinking. My cousin, also inactive, partied with me for long time. He and another inactive girl hooked up, partied with us and decided to go back to the cong. I don't know if they disclosed that they had been sleeping together, but they definitely ratted me out. The elders came and hunted me down. I met with them (I was clean at this point) confessed my sins and admitted my remorse. I also told them that I did not see myself returning to meetings anytime in the near future because of my anger with the congregation, etc. They sent me out to my car (as the meeting was starting, so all these jw's, including family members, saw me leaving crying), deliberated for five minute and called me back in. They told me that they were disfellowshipping me, not for the drugs and alcohol (they felt I was repentant), but because I would not commit to coming back to meetings!!!! I was outraged and stormed out of there, even though they begged me to stay and discss things. I have not and will not set foot in a kindgom hall ever again!!!

Recovered memories
by recoveringjw inwhile i was writing about my time in the "borg", i remembered a time that my mother had been disfellowshipped.
i don't remember why it had happened.
i am not sure that anyone ever told me.

My husband didn't know his father had been disfellowshipped until after our marriage. He was afraid to ask, but finally did. He had been disfellowshipped b/c he married a df'ed woman. (My husband's mother was his thrid wife.) His father was a very understanding man, very non judgemental. Knowing his history helped undstand why he was so tolerant and wise.

Are You SURE JWs Don't Have The Truth???
by minimus inhas anyone here ever questioned whether or not they made the right decision to leave the "truth"?......i'm sure glad i'm out!

Absolutely. I have a hard time believing that god - in whatever form you choose - would turn his/her back on someone who truly believes in him/her and lives a decent life. I don't profess to know what happens when we die, but I believe that as long as you strived to be a good person, you'll be okay, whatever the outcome is. That's just my opinion though.
