  As a veteran of the Vietnam era and a fellow x soldier...........my heart aches for every young man who dies in any war.....let alone a SENSELESS one.

  His family is to be commended for supporting him and saying good things. They didn't let the fact that they are JW's over ride their true feelings toward this son and brother that they love.

  Since leaving the JW's .........I have a new appreciation for all veterans and those who are now serving. I can count a man who spent 18 month as a POW as one of my best friends today.

  Like the sign says.........."IF YOU LOVE YOUR FREEDOM.......THANK A VET"

  I understand your feelings about this but in the spirit of love I have to disagree.

  I have no respect for men and women who claim to be Christians and who have the ability and education to defend their faith but who chose the comfortable path of preaching to the choir rather than to help their fallen brothers.

  I think we should not judge them for not posting here. I'm sure that if they did post here they would be faced with persons that may argue if they made certain untrue or unprovable statements about the Bible. They may have to face issues they are not willing to deal with, if they post here.

  There are some on this and other forums who are like rabid dogs and love argument and controversy just for the sake of it. They are full of anger and hate. What can you do with a rabid dog? No matter if you try to "feed" it or be nice to it, it will bite you. Franz, Johnson and Penton and some others do not need to be insulted or called out for some of the statements they made. The ones who start the "fight" have done nothing positive to refute WT teachings. All they spew is anger, hate and show their lack of real knowledge. Where are their writings? As one poster put it, they have done much as it is with their writings. JWD is a wonderful forum with a lot of good people, but there is a much larger audience out where their work is being done. That work is reaching thousands of people who are not nor want to be on any forum or the internet itself. Yes, it would be nice to hear from them from time to time, but consider their age and their schedule of activities. Being here just reading every post every day takes quite a bit of time. If I wasn't retired, I could never get all the posts read let alone respond to some of them. And I don't have the knowledge or education to write a book or do some of the research they have done. All I can do is thank them for helping to FREE me and many others and to say to them especially and to everyone else...................................... God Bless You, HappyDad

  i have read in different threads, comments to the effect of married dub males as being despotic, tyrannical lords of their domain.

  and i'm sure in many istances this is true.

  i had never heard of men (family heads) referred to in such terms before i became a dub.

  What Mulan said was how it was in the cong. I went to.

  There are some men who are in charge of their families, but many are definitely run by their wives. The congregation we used to attend is very much run by behind the scenes wives.

  One "sister" actually made this comment at a WT study just to get a little chuckle from the audience.

  "The man is the head of the house but the woman is the neck........and the neck can turn the head any way it wants to."

  When you think about it......that's about how it goes!

  Do ALL men cheat??

  i was watching an old eddie murphy hbo special a few weeks ago where he was talking about relationships.

  in his bit, he went off on how all men cheat on their wives and girlfriends.

  he was adamant that even the nicest of guys will take the opportunity to cheat if given the chance and that women need to understand that this is the way it is, 100% of the time.

  My final comment on this thread:

  The singer John Hyatt (anyone familiar with him?) wrote a song which is on one of his CD's called "Little Head".

  It's about men's desires for women and the one line in it goes......."I'm so easily led when the little head does the thinkin".

  How true that line could be with a lot of men. But as so many already said.....there is commitment, love, concern about what you could lose, respect/self respect, etc.

  i recently started learning about it and bought a brand new total gym (the infomercial by chuck norris and christy brinkley).

  it sells for $1,495.00 if you call the infomercial number.

  Hey gang.......thanks for all the good ebay tips.

  I agree on Paypal. I won't buy or sell unless it is Paypal. The aviation headset I sold.....I charged $9.00 shipping, took it to the post office to mail out "priority mail" this morning. The shipping and insurance cost $8.50. Pretty close guess on my part. But the box I bought earlier this week was $2.63 at the UPS store. From now on I will keep boxes to reuse instead of throwing them away. Once I list the book mentioned in my opening topic, I'll be curious to see how much I get for it.

  I've got to get into the attic and see what I might be able to get a few $$$ for. Found my old pre computer days electronic typewriter with word processer in a closet. A good typwriter was as necessary for prepairing talks as a nice bookbag back then. Sure did type a lot of talks and meeting parts on it. Wonder if I should list it under WT talk prepairer? I see a lot of WT books and bound volumes on ebay and someone is actually buying a lot of them. This past summer, I loaded up 35 years worth of literature and took it to Goodwill. There were a few really old publications in those boxes. Oh well........I still have the Faith On The March Book by A.H. Macmillan (1957) I'll list that too and see what happens.

  For now........it's time to get ready for the Jets vs. Steelers game.
