  I like caller ID. If I don't know who it is, I don't answer. My answering machine isn't even used anymore. I've found that I very seldom get a call from someone I know. If I do, I call them once I see their number on caller ID.

  The need for educated proffesonals - more WT hypocrisy?

  one thing that always annoyed me when i was in the org was the policy on education.

  i personaly am not college educated, i was`nt raised as a jw.

  however, i have always appreciated the services provided by those who have had a college/university education.

  Dozy's remarks remind me of another apologist poster who used to be here..........defd !

  Their comments were similar but when called to provide proof or when shown "truth", they failed to respond. Probably because of a total lack of any common sense understanding of the real world ! Can you read the word brainwashed?

  Mods............you can delete the following or chastise me if you want to but dozy is an.............................

  just like most of the other apologists.

  All we can hope for is for him/her and others to have the blinders removed. Hopefully in the near future!

  Cheap Looking Bibles

  i have not been to a kingdom hall for several years now.

  just the other day my inlaws sent my husband a new watchtower society bible .

  it has the cheapest plastic cover i have ever seen.

  Could someone post a picture of the new bible? I can't imagine a bible without a leather cover.

  That green bible was absolutely awful. I always felt so ashamed pulling it out of my bag back in the 1970's and having a householder make a comment about it.

  my father-in-law and i had a big discussion about elders and how they are not loving.

  i said this was indicative of the society as a whole.

  he countered by saying, "i go to the elder's school, and it is full of loving advice.

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on. English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all.   You lovers of the English language might enjoy this .. There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is "UP." It's easy to understand UP , meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP ? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP ? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report ? We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver, we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car . At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing but to be dressed UP is special . And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP . We open UP a store in the morning and

  also remember he played the JW father of a boy who needed a blood transfusion on Dr. Kildare way back in the 60's. Kildare gave the kid blood over the objection of the family and he lived.

  Yeah...........I remember that one. Showing my age!

  He really did some great TV. Gunsmoke and before that with Eve Arden in a show I can't remember the name of.

  I really liked the TV movie Duel when he was chased by the crazed tank trucker. I didn't realize he was that old.

  edited to add: The TV show with Eve Arden was "Our Miss Brooks." I heard through the J dub urban legend source many years ago that Eve Arden also studied with the JW's but never persued it.

  i have the video, finally, of the city overseer perjuring himself.

  in it, he denies wt publications, refuses to read wt articles and quotes claiming they come from "apostate" websites, etc.

  it is about 10 minutes long.

  I just love to see the hypocracy exposed to the non JW public. Most people really don't have a clue of the mindset of staunch JW's.

  Can't wait to see the entire org get it's comeuppance.

  GB Scandal?

  a friend of mine got this info to me and states that this info is in fact on the grandson of guy pierce, gb member aka the jw college of cardinals.

  this person didnt really go into detail but did say that the family are all jw's and this is the son of one of his stepsons, i didnt even realize he had stepchildren.

  most of the charges are for drug possesion, traffic violations, one for assault???

  i'm the type that rathers not answer the door, when an elder will come over, to try to bring me back on the road of eternal life.

  how about you, do you rather answer the door to them, or just avoid opening the door, when you know it's them?

  As one who used to be an elder, I have not, nor will not answer the door when they call.

  As representatives of an ultra high controlling religion (or if you prefer...cult), they are not worthy of my attention. I do not respect them as such.

  But if they were to act as a real man in another scenario, I would give them consideration as a man. But never give consideration to their position as "saviors" or "leaders" of the publishing company they represent.
