Did You Know Many Dumb Elders?

i did.. there were some pretty sharp guys but there were a lot of not so bright ones.

the worst elders were the ones that thought they were very intelligent but really were stupid.. one elder that fits that description was a man that loved to speculate on prophecies, watchtower wording, someone's facial expressions or mannerisms.

he truly believed he was more enlightened than anyone else.

Years after the fact.................the dumbest Elder I knew was myself.

Mainly because I really believed the CRAP and wanted to enforce it with all my might! That part put a lot of other CRAP in my family's life. I almost destroyed my family with my ultra theocratic attitude. And once I got my head together...........my family life improved like you wouldn't believe. I resigned as an elder and 6 years later after my wife died.............me and my daughter got our eyes opened and are no longer a slave to Brooklyn.

Now..........I don't think I am.......... or was so dumb. I learned from this experience and now I am able to think.

Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole.......big.....beautiful Hawaian music

i got on a dean koontz kick and have recently finished the 15th book by him since january.

in the one i just finished........he recommended the music by the late israel kamakawiwo'ole.

he said that it was very soothing and put him in the writing mood.

I love you and so does everyone else! Just seems that certain themes or words in some of our posts can put a burr under someones saddle once in awhile.

Please forgive me for being so forthright or adamant ( not sure of the words I want because I am also illitterate!)

But I am glad you like IZ's music.

Sometimes..........the joy us exes get is a little different than others get.

in the one i just finished........he recommended the music by the late israel kamakawiwo'ole.

he said that it was very soothing and put him in the writing mood.

What's wrong with you woman?

Why do people like you have to always take the most innocent of comments and make an issue out of it? Get over it.

Yeah........the man was very large and made beautiful music. The reason I mentioned his size was.... as anyone who looks into the music scene of just about any culture, can see that physical appearance means almost more than the talent that the particular individual has. If a man or woman is too large, there usually IS NO career or contract. Aretha Franklin and Rubin Studdard.....with their great voices are exceptions. And Iz is another great exception.

That was the only reason I brought his size up. Get off the "sensitivity" and "political correct" soapbox for awhile.

By the way.......I'm also a "large" man. 5' 11-1/2" and 253 pounds......and also bald...... and I don't take issue with any comments of those things. So don't bit$h about me bringing up something about size. At least I can comfortably live with myself without being "sensitive".

Glad you like his music though!

police found him slumped over the wheel of his still-running truck in a coral springs parking lot, reeking of alcohol.. ---snip---.

Do the brothers know that you frequent an "apostate" web site? I guess the reason you are here is because no one in your cong. likes you and you are in need of socializing. With an attitude like yours, I guess you live alone, huh? What you need is an "apostate' kiss.

As far as my response to the topic of this post, I still stick with what I said.

In my decades as a JW and my years as an elder, I saw first hand that one of the largest problems in the org. is the overindulgence of alchohol. Reason being that as a JW you are not allowed to have any meaningful friendships with anyone not a JW and I never saw a truely close friendship in the congregations either. Drinking is a great way to alleviate boredom, isn't it Rose?

If you still want to stick around the "forbidden" zone, then feel free to stay. Eventually your eyes might be opened and you will lose the apologetic attitude.

While you're at the meeting tomorrow, don't forget to pray to the FDS for forgiveness for venturing into a forbidden place.

What gets to me is...............................

If Mr. Blacklege had never had to endure an indoctrinated life as a JW's son..............he might have done something good with his life instead of trying to escape it with way too much alchohol. And those he killed would still be alive.

Yet he deserves to be incarcerated for what he did.......but his old man and the "others" should be locked up with him for ruining his life through brainwashing.

I got on a Dean Koontz kick and have recently finished the 15th book by him since January. In the one I just finished........he recommended the music by the late Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole. He said that it was very soothing and put him in the writing mood. Once I listened to Israel's version of "Over The Rainbow", I realized that I did indeed hear it SOMEWHERE! I have to agree WITH Dean Koontz. I have fallen in love with Israel's music and am going to get some of it. In the meantime.......YouTube has a lot of video of him and it is great to listen to. Forget his size........just enjoy a beautiful voice.

Just wanted to add......... I just listened to his version of Over The Rainbow again and have to say that listening to it just melts all the pressures and anxieties of my day. I hope it does the same for you.

My "Moonie" experience the other day.

ok, this is a short experience that happened to me the other day.. .

i went to eat at a local chinese buffet.

i was sitting there eating my food, when a young chinese woman approaches my table carrying a metal briefcase, it looked like it was homemade and had pics of flowers on it.
